This has been on my computer for quite a while, but with the recent announcement of Breath of the Wild 2 in development, and with the teaser trailer, holy fuck I had to upload this. With some tweaks here and there of course, like add the thing at the very end.
Of course, this is another one of my shit copy & paste fics. But I find it fun to do things like this, even though it isn't exactly top-notch content. Nonetheless I hope you enjoy, and if you feel, review. I would appreciate any reviews I receive, as they do make me feel good, even the ones that are saying I'm a shit writer and stuff.
Also, you don't have to tell me I'm a shit writer, I already know that, I'm the one who said it first.
The world was in ruin, all four Kingdoms had crumbled under the power of the Great Calamity. Alma Xiao Long, grandson of Yang Xiao Long and Jaune Arc, was the hero who was prophesied to defeat the Great Calamity.
Alma stood before the entrance to Beacon. He remembers what his grandmother told him… Years ago, the world was besieged by something called "The Grimm", beasts of darkness that served a woman named 'Salem'.
She and her team, along with his grandfather's team fought together and slew her. His grandmother was already pregnant with his mother at the time, and before she died, Salem killed Jaune. But his spirit survived.
Filled with so much rage and hatred over his own death that his spirit remained on this world, it refused to pass on and wanted to kill Salem itself. But such an event is surely not in the soul's best interest, and it was damaged.
He became a monster unlike any other. And the world, knowing of the future from Ruby Rose, built four great 'Divine Beasts' designed to kill the coming Calamity.
Each 'Divine Beast' had a designated pilot:
Divine Beast Vah Medoh was piloted by Lie Ren.
Divine Beast Vah Naboris was piloted by Weiss Schnee.
Divine Beast Vah Ruta was piloted by Blake Belladonna.
Divine Beast Vah Rudania was piloted by Nora Valkyrie.
When Jaune came back, he spread his body apart and possessed each Divine Beast, killing the pilots and bringing the world to its knees in less than a single day. Ruby Rose, Alma's Great Aunt, saw the destruction and sealed herself and Calamity Jaune inside Beacon.
100 years passed by and Alma was raised with the purpose of freeing Ruby Rose, and killing Calamity Jaune for good. He wielded Crocea Mors, one of the only weapons that could hurt the Calamity, most everything else was completely useless against it.
Alma went to each Divine Beast and killed the piece of Calamity that was there, freeing the souls of the dead, but they chose to stay and finish the job. They stayed behind not from hatred, but for love. They didn't hate Jaune, they just wanted him to rest.
Each Divine Beast was prepared to fire as soon as Calamity Jaune appears. They were designed to kill the Calamity, they were the strongest weapon ever designed on Remnant.
Alma took a deep breathe, pulling Crocea Mors from his back and extending the shield. His blue shirt blowing in the wind, blonde hair tied up safely. He stepped into Beacon's tower and saw a great and large chamber, with a red bulbous fleshy thing attached to the roof. A silver light shone from within.
"…Alma… Alma… I'm sorry… but my power isn't strong enough…" Ruby spoke directly into Alma's mind. "I can't hold him." The bulbous thing wriggled before a blue beam shot from it into the ground behind Alma, moving about the room randomly. More beams emerged, scanning around the room before dissipating.
Many small beams appeared, cutting the red sack. It wriggled once more and then burst apart, dropping a lot of red-ish pink liquid and the Calamity itself. The liquid obscured its visage and it fell onto the ground in front of Alma in a heap of limbs of flesh and machines. Alma looked down to the ground as he heard a cracking and saw the ground, burned and cut by the lasers, shatter beneath his feet from the weight of the Calamity.
They fell through a long tunnel, on one side were the remains of an elevator. Alma pulled out a cloth given to him by his grandmother, holding it up and using it to slow his descent.
Calamity Jaune crashed into the ground, and slowly began to stand, an arm with a beam sword moved, followed by many small machine legs. It growled deeply, the sound reverberating deep in its throat. The dust from the fall obscured its form as it moved around, looking for something.
As Alma came down he saw it had deep red hair with blonde tips, it had a long body covered in legs almost like a spider, or a centipede. It had many arms as well, two large and two small. One arm was a giant sword while the other was a ranged weapon of some kind, the other two had laser claws, one with a hand like shape and the other like scissors. It was a horrible mixture of flesh and machine, a spirit that was slowly remaking its body, but wasn't yet complete.
Alma landed, and readied himself as it turned towards him, hearing the landing. It showed its face, a giant beard and two giant orange glowing eyes. It had a yellow gem embedded into its forehead. The machinery that made up half of its body glowed either blue or orange. Half of its face was machine while the other half was the half liquid, half solid flesh that oozed and writhed like maggots.
It reared itself up and roared at Alma, who responded by looking to the top of the tunnel.
The spirit of Lie Ren looked into the distance from his place in Mistral, atop the Divine Beast Vah Medoh, a giant bird machine. "Now my moment has finally come. Brace yourself, Jaune, for the sting of my revenge!" Lie Ren pointed his arm to Vale and Vah Medoh fired a large beam of blue energy, easily capable of decimating an entire Kingdom.
"This will be our final opportunity. We will not fail!" Blake said as she extended her hands out towards Beacon, standing atop the elephant like machine, firing the beam from Menagerie.
Nora flexed her ghost muscles, she so wanted to be there for the fight, but this was her duty "Let's go, little guy! Now! Open up wide, Jaune!" The lizard machine fired its own beam, joining the others from Vacuo.
"A hundred years in the making…" Weiss said, smirking from her place atop the camel robot "Hold on, Ruby. Our moment has arrived!" Weiss clicked her fingers and Vah Naboris fired off the final beam.
All four beams arrived to Beacon tower at the same moment, joining together in Ozpin's old office. Alma smiled as he saw the blue light from the top of the tower. Calamity Jaune noticed as well and looked up to see the last of the beams join together, creating a giant blue ball suspended in Ozpin's office, before it imploded and erupted into thousands of arrow like beams that slammed down onto Calamity Jaune.
It screeched in pain as it was burned and crushed under the power of the Divine Beasts. Until finally it all exploded, and Calamity Jaune crumpled to the ground. It growled as it stood again, in pain, but none the less completely unharmed.
It roared at Alma again, this time in a screech of anger instead of intimidation. Alma saw his grandfather's hatred, and pulled out Crocea Mors, it lit up blue in the hands of the Chosen One.
Alma backflipped over a swing by the Calamity and when he landed he sped up to its face and slashed it over and over again, his Semblance kicking in, the ability to slow everything but himself down to a crawl, but only for a few seconds. Calamity Jaune reared itself up and tried to crush Alma beneath its weight, but he leapt back.
Such a dodge was useless though, as when Calamity Jaune hit the ground, a wave of plasma erupted from the ground around it, hitting Alma and sending him into the wall of the circular chamber. Calamity Jaune swung his energy sword again, and sent waves of fire across the ground towards Alma, who pulled out his grandmother's cloth again and used the air currents created from the heat to lift himself into the air.
He put it away when he was over Calamity Jaune, bringing Crocea Mors to bear on his grandfather's back, stabbing it again and again, hearing the screeching just spurred him on. He was finally wrenched off its back by the clawed hand grasping him around the waist and slamming him into the ground. The other claw hand coming around, using the scissor like blades in an attempt to decapitate Alma.
Luckily Crocea Mors as it was, awakened to its true power, was completely and utterly indestructible. Alma blocked the blades and dug the point into the arm holding him, seeing the spurt of black/red/pink blood as it let go and screeched at him.
Calamity Jaune moved away from Alma, leaning backwards as its legs turned around and gripped the wall, climbing onto it and moving around the room. Alma held his blade defensively as Calamity Jaune swung its own blade, too far away to reach Alma. Alma's confusion was answered when a tornado instantly rushed to life, moving towards him. As he backpedalled he saw Calamity Jaune swing again, generating another tornado.
As Alma ran around the room, trying to avoid the tornados he heard a strange whining sound, looking to the Calamity he saw it hold up its ranged weapon and fire a large air bullet towards him. Alma ducked and the air bullet went over his head and hit one of the tornados, cancelling it out. As he stood back up, Alma swung Crocea Mora, sending out a spinning energy blade that slammed into Calamity Jaune's body.
It screeched and held up the gun again, but Alma's expectation was shattered when instead of an air bullet, a blast of plasma was shot at him. Putting his shield up he tanked the shot, and blocked the second one, getting a suicidal idea, when the third shot neared him he threw his shield out, knocking the plasma bullet back into the Calamity's eyes, blinding it.
It fell off the wall screeching and when it hit the ground, Alma ran over as fast as he could, saving his Semblance for when he really needs it. Instead, he pulled out a Dust crystal as the eyes of the Calamity lit up again, the damage to the eyes already repaired. It lifted the beam sword and was about to swing, had Alma not used the Dust crystal to send a thunderbolt at the Calamity, shocking it and interrupting the attack, the last tornado dying out as it ran into the wall. Alma set a flurry of swing into Calamity Jaune's underside, spilling more and more of the black and magenta glowing blood.
The Calamity slammed itself into the ground again, sending Alma a fair distance away.
As Alma recovered he watched as Calamity Jaune clenched itself up and released the built up energy, an orange field of energy covering it. Alma charged it and dodged the scissor arm and slashed the palm of the claw arm but heard a clanging sound. Alma saw Crocea Mors bounce off the orange field, and put his shield up to protect himself from any counter-attacks
But Alma wasn't prepared for the sword of the Calamity to slam into the ground behind him, shaking the ground and making him lose footing, lowering his shield in an effort to regain it. But he realized his mistake to late, and looked at the Calamity's gun as it fired a beam of plasma straight into his face.
While he recovered, the Calamity got back onto the wall, crawling away from him. Alma stood up and watched, disgusted as the Calamity grew another arm, it burst from its body in a shower of blood. The end of the arm was a rectangular machine that had two holes in it on either side.
Alma gasped as a long double bladed energy spear burst into existence, and had to dodge when it threw it at him. It stabbed into the ground where he just was and turned to ice, freezing the ground around it. Alma lifted his sword and was about to throw another spinning beam before the Calamity raised its hand and summoned seven car sized blocks of ice and threw them at him.
Summoning as much Aura as possible, Alma swung the sword again and again, sending a sword beam into each ice block, destroying them before sending another one at the Calamity. But the beam burst against the orange shield around it, and did nothing.
Calamity Jaune grew another arm, this time it looked normal, well as normal as the Calamity could look, and raised that arm to the air. A fireball came to life above the hand and Calamity Jaune threw it at Alma.
Alma ran away and jumped just in time to avoid the explosion of fire, but as he was tired and in pain he fell back down when he tried to stand, but as he fell another ice spear flew past where he would have been had he stood up. It pierced the ground and froze it, just as before. Alma swallowed in fear before steeling himself. This was about more than himself.
Alma stood up and put his shield up as the Calamity fired three more plasma bullets, just as before Alma blocked the first two but deflected the third. Calamity Jaune dodged it but Alma saw something. Just as the Calamity attacks, the shield lowers.
Alma raised his sword above his head and waited, and his waiting was rewarded as Calamity Jaune swung his sword, sending a tornado at Alma who just swung his blade, sending a beam at the Calamity who was hit and forced off the wall, falling through the tornado and stopping it.
While Calamity Jaune was trying to stand up, Alma was on him, activating his Semblance to give himself more time, he swung again and again into the Calamity's face. Once the metal plating was damaged enough, Alma plunged the sword through Calamity Jaune's face.
It stopped moving for a few seconds before it began to stand again, blood pouring from the wound on its head. Alma wrenched Crocea Mors free from the Calamity's brain case and stood back, watching as it crawled towards him slowly. It stopped crawling though when more wounds began to open up around its body, blood pouring out as it screeched.
Calamity Jaune screeched and screamed in pain as it reached out its only normal arm towards Alma, as a dark red light shone from within the Calamity, and it exploded. Alma covered his face as he watched the machinery disintegrate and the room fill with a black and red mist. The sound of the Calamity's growl continued as the fog moved up through the tunnel.
Alma gasped as he looked down at his body which glowed with a silver light, and he was teleported onto a grassy field facing Beacon. Next to him his grandmother's motorcycle, Bumblebee, appeared. Alma looked up and saw the black and red mist travel past him away from Beacon.
"… Jaune… Jaune…" Alma turned around to see a giant mass of fog. "The Calamity was born of a dark past, the embodiment of hatred and evil that almost destroyed our world…" A body began to move within the fog, and out stepped a large hoof, made from the black and red fog of the Calamity.
"He has given up on reincarnation and assumed his pure, enraged form." Deep red flames burst from the fog as the head of a boar emerged, its long tusks stretching to the heavens. The red flames appeared from behind the eyes and moved down its back to the end of its tail. "If set free upon our world, the destruction would be unlike anything ever seen before."
The boar like Calamity slammed down onto the ground, easily larger than the entirety of Beacon, the world shaking at its feet.
Dark Beast Jaune.
Alma looked up as a silver light appeared, and saw a bow floating down towards him. "I entrust you with the Bow of Light, a powerful weapon in the face of evil. Alma, you may not yet be at a point where you have awakened all of your power… But courage need not be awakened."
Alma put away Crocea Mors and picked the Bow of Light out of the air as he mounted Bumblebee. Dark Beast Jaune opened its mouth and fired a beam of pure hatred, which burned the world and almost hit Alma, had he not driven Bumblebee to the side as fast as he could. He turned to see the beam cut Beacon tower straight in half and continue on, cutting through the mountains far in the distance as well.
Alma fired a bolt of light at Dark Beast Jaune, but it failed to pierce its body. "That energy covering his body is called 'Malice', none of your attacks will get through as he now is. I will hold the Malic back as much as I can, but my power is waning, attack any glowing points that you see!"
Alma looked at the Dark Beast and saw three glowing silver circles appear on its side, the Dark Beast roaring in pain at their existence. Alma drove Bumblebee to Dark Beast Jaune's side as it roared, pulling back the string on the bow, an arrow of light came into existence in the bow, and Alma fired it directly into the glowing circles, causing immense pain to the Dark beast.
Dark Beast Jaune lifted itself up onto its back legs, and brought its terrifying weight down upon the land, causing an earthquake, and shattering the earth around it. Large chunks of stone bursting from the ground around the Incarnation of Hatred and Malice.
Alma went rolling off the bike when the earthquake hit, but he was able to notch a light arrow as he rolled. Ruby struggled but was able to persevere and summon another circle for Alma to target.
Alma let the arrow fly, and Dark Beast Jaune roared as it slammed into his flesh. The Avatar of Evil turned itself around slowly, its boar form and its size slowing it down. Alma saw it turning towards him and picked up Bumblebee, getting on and revving the engine, flying across the field and dodging blast after blast of pure malice. Each blast burned the world, and everything that the malice touched, died instantly, withering away to dust. If the Dark Beast continued, nothing would be habitable again.
Alma heard Ruby screaming in pain from inside Dark Beast Jaune, trying her best to muster up what meagre power she still held in those silver eyes of hers. Alma turned around and notched another arrow, letting it fly uselessly against the Dark Beast's flesh, trying to distract it from Ruby.
It worked, and she was able to summon another circle on the Dark Beast's belly. Alma turned his bike around, knowing that what he was doing would have his grandma Yang beating his sorry ass for the next year. He drove full charge towards the Dark Beast, leaping off Bumblebee just before it crashed into the stone, leaving him to go over them.
He rolled when he landed on the ground and quickly notched and let loose his arrow, striking the Dark Beast on its underside, only just rolling out of the way of the toxic malice that acted like blood that rained down from the wound.
Alma wouldn't get any rest just yet, for the Dark Beast Jaune released a wave of Malice that sent the stone chunks back into the ground, burying Bumblebee beneath the earth. The Dark Beast stopped and seemed to be trying to regain its strength, but Alma took this as an opportunity, running to the front of the Dark Beast.
"We're so close! Alma, look up there!"
Alma looked up and saw the back just behind the head of the Dark Beast split open, revealing Dark Beast Jaune's core, a giant eye surrounded by thousands of smaller eyes, each holding endless, unlimited, animalistic hate. The entire sky turned red, the sun becoming an abomination, a reflection of the Dark Beast's eye.
The Dark Beast opened its mouth and let loose a stream of fire like Malice that set the entire field ablaze. Alma put the Bow of Light in front of him, letting its light protect him from the energy. Once it was over, Alma pulled out his grandmother's cloth again, using the air currents generated by the heat of the flames to drag him higher.
"Now Alma!"
Alma let go of the cloth, letting it flutter away on the wind, pulling the Bow of Light out and letting loose a single arrow into the core of the Dark Beast.
Dark Beast Jaune roared in pain, staggering back in pain. Alma landed roughly, but safely. The Dark Beast jerked as a silver light burst from the core, and a light flew from the Dark Beast, transforming into Ruby Rose.
Dark Beast Jaune's eyes widened at the sight of Ruby, and it watched as she slowly floated down to the ground. She looked up at the Incarnation of Malice, and frowned. The Dark Beast slammed its head down onto the ground, looking at her. It barked at her, trying to intimidate her. She ignored this and let her silver eyes shine with light, making it cower away from her as its body was torn apart.
Red flames appeared all over its body as Dark Beast Jaune returned to his fog like form, flying high into the air. A boar like head appearing at the tip of the fog, baleful yellow eyes staring out as it roared into the sky.
Ruby watched as it came down at her, opening its mouth to swallow her and kill her for good this time. But as the Great Calamity came down at her, Ruby simply raised her hand and summoned up all of her strength. A silver sun burst into existence around Ruby and extended outwards, covering Alma and healing him of all wounds or fatigue.
Calamity Jaune flew around it, flying higher and higher to escape the silver sun, until he finally realised he couldn't, and roared in pain and hatred as he was dragged into the silver sun and dispersed inside it.
Once the Calamity was contained inside it, the silver sun suddenly shrunk down into a tiny ball in the sky, and then disappeared. The Great Calamity was gone… and hopefully Jaune was gone forever this time.
Ruby put down her hand as the sky cleared and the sun returned to normal. She looked across the field towards Beacon, staring at the broken tower and the destruction wrought by the rage of one of her best friends.
For over a minute Ruby stared across the horizon, until she turned around and saw her great nephew walk over to her, holding the Bow of Light out to her and smiling. The bow disappeared as Ruby smiled back "I always knew you would come. My silver eyes told me you would."
Alma nodded, he had always been a quite person, never speaking unless absolutely necessary, and sometimes not even then.
The two stared out over the horizon, staring at Beacon and at the damage of the Calamity, but also at the new chance they now had. Salem was destroyed forever, Ozpin got his wish and was granted peace by the gods. The meddlesome pricks left Remnant alone, going off into the cosmos to do whatever it is gods do.
And one of the worst things to ever happen to Remnant, the Great Calamity, the one man who brought the entire world to ruin, was sealed away forever, never to return.
Now they could all rest, no more Grimm, no more Calamity, just the afternoon sun slowly lowering over the mountains. Now they could finally rest and rebuild.
It was over…
…
Deep below Beacon, in the tombs created by the Huntsman and Huntresses to give the heroes who died in the war against Salem peace of mind… a corpse kneeled and leaned back, mouth open in pain. The desiccated body had long blonde hair that came from its head and laid across the floor.
A strange light blue hand reached down from the ceiling and gripped the corpse by the chest, its fingers digging into the dried flesh. Black and red mist poured out of the wound created when Salem plunged a sword through its chest, and from around where the fingers of the strange had penetrated the skin.
The light blue arm seemed to vibrate, before it let go of the corpse as the black and red mist seemed to attack it. The dark chamber was lit with red light as the hand was destroyed. The corpse leaned further back, the jewelry that decorated the dead hero rattled with the movement.
The corpse's neck snapped as it looked towards the entrance to the chamber, and malicious red eyes, the same as the Calamity, appeared in its sockets.
It breathed once more.
