Prologue

Harry was lying in his room waiting for a response from Ron. He began to sort out his thoughts, trying to fully grip what had just happened when he heard a loud crack. Fred and George briskly walked up to Harry and grabbed his trunk. Having joined The Order after leaving Hogwarts they knew most of what was happening with Voldemort and his Death Eaters.

"Sorry, mate, but we can't say anything just yet. We won't take your wand though, we think the new Minister of Magic will understand the circumstances." George told him, and with that they disapparated with his trunk. It was all so fast that Harry couldn't even think of a question to ask them. As soon as they left, his mind was flooded with them. Why were Death Eaters in Privet Drive? Why did they attack Dudley instead of Harry or Aunt Petunia. Both Harry and Aunt Petunia were more harm to Voldemort than Dudley was. Harry was his sworn enemy and Aunt Petunia kept Harry safe. Dudley, though, Dudley wasn't important at all.

He heard a crash from the in the kitchen and rushed down the stairs to find it almost completely blown away. In the rubble he found his cousin lying dead, completely maimed. As the dust cleared he noticed a tall man in a black cloak standing in the debris. The man's high-pitched cackle bored into Harry's mind. He was losing consciousness. He suddenly heard the Phoenix's song, but even that couldn't help him, he was awareness was leaving him quickly. In his last moments awake he saw the bearded man with his half moon glasses approaching.

a/n: there was a little confusion with this from one of the readers. Let me try and clarify...if i can...since eveni don't know why dudley's so importante. Um...Death Eaters attacked Dudley at the durs' house. Harry was trying to comprehend why they attacked dudly and not the two obviously more important characters. Voldie comes and kills dudley (i still don't know why, but when i do figure it out i'll try and make it good), harry passes out and Dumbley-dorr comes. That's where the prologue ends.
