I think that's all you need to know for now, this is just a little prologue to get us into the real story. Please enjoy Sapphires and Roses/ Snakes and Toads.
Castiel would simply remind himself everyday of his birth mother words.
No rest for the wicked Castiel. No good deed goes unpunished. Stay good and all those good things we dream about will come, but in time. Work for them and be good. Above all be good.
Even at the hands of an abusive step father, Castiel still remained good for his long loss mother's sake. He was polite and kind to all those he would meet. He worked hard like she wanted. He was a kind hearted child, even when he had no reason to be.
Castiel's birth father died fighting in the great demon war. He was one of the bravest knights in King John Winchester's army, but all that bravery didn't stop the arrow that went though his heart. Shortly after his death, Castiel mother remarried the town blacksmith; a heartless man by the name of Lucifer. His son Crowley was just as brutal and mean spirited. For a while they all lived together and then Castiel's mother fell ill and passed away shortly after.
Now Castiel was living with his step father and step brother. Both men treated him as nothing more than a dog that could clean and cook.
"Worthless Castiel," Lucifer would call out, holding Castiel tightly by the collar. "You are worthless, just another mouth to feed."
Castiel had just been cleaning the kitchen when he knocked over a sack of flour. He was able to clean most of it up but Lucifer still was in a rage over the wasted flour.
Out of the corner of his eye he could see Crowley laughing. That was so like him; sitting around fat and lazy, laughing at Castiel's pain. Castiel ice blue eyes glanced up at his step father as he swallowed the lump in his throat.
"I am sorry Father. I will fetch the water for dinner as recompense." Castiel said clearly but with a hint of fear still in his voice. You could never tell what Lucifer would do or say. He was a cold man who was hard to read. But the proposition seemed to calm his step father rage.
"And you will cook for Crowley and I tonight." He let go of Castiel and turned his back on the boy. "Oh and were all out of bread. Better get baking."
Castiel sighed and grabbed the water bucket. It was going to be a long day.
Current thoughts: I have had this idea for a while and I'm happy its down on paper. I have the rest of it planed for the most part but it might change based on my mood. For now I feel good about this story. Let me know what you think, leave me a review!
