A/N : Another fanfiction challenge from my guild. This time it is 'What if Albus and Severus were actually brothers?'. We had lots of freedom. As long as it was longer than 2 sentences, made sense and was original, it is good.

This is mostly just dialogue.

Albus is telling Severus that they are actually related.

"Severus my dear boy, I think it is time that I let you in on a little secret." Dumbedore sat behind his desk gazing into the eyes of the confused 16 year old boy in front of him. "I admit, that I have been putting this off for quite a bit, but my boy, you weren't old enough to know. You were too young. But it is time now. I believe you are mature enough to know."

"...Very well, Headmaster. What is it?"

"I am sure you have noticed the similarities between you and I-"

"No sir, not really."

"-and I'm sure you have put two and two together-"

"I have no idea what you are talking about, Professor."

"-and it's very obvious that you were adopted-"

"I'M ADOPTED????"

"-and so the only possible conclusion you would be able to come to, is that...Severus, I am your brother."

Severus stared at his Headmaster, wide-eyed. There was a long moment of silence before he spoke up.

"I believe the line is 'Severus, I am your father'."

Dumbledore shook his head. "This is a serious situation, my boy. While it is true, we do not share the same father, we are indeed brothers."

"This can't be happening..."

"But it is, Severus. Open your eyes to the truth!" Dumbledore waved his hands about dramatically. "We are brothers!"

"This must be one of Potter's sick jokes..."

"You see, when my father died... our mother went into a great depression, and started to... get to know other men-"

"Oh dear lord."

"-and man #18 accidentally got her pregnant. Unfortunately, she was too old to care for her new born child, you, so she gave you up for adoption. I was 53 years old at this time. I would have taken care of you, Sevvie-"

"Don't call me that."

"-but I was too busy defeating Grindewald and being superior to others."

Severus rolled his eyes.

"And by the time that hectic part of my life was over, you had already been adopted by a loving-"

Severus snorted.

"-family. I couldn't tear you away from them." Dumbledore shook his head sadly. "I was so happy once you arrived at Hogwarts 6 years ago. I wanted to pull you into my office and tell you of your relationship, but then...it happened."

"What happened, sir?"

"Call my Albus, Sevvie."

"...I'd rather not, sir."

"Anywho, back to my story. You got sorted into Slytherin. That was quite a shock for me. I admit, I may have handled it a bit...immaturely, but you've got to understand it my way, Severus! I was the most powerful wizard in the world! I couldn't have people knowing I was related to a Slytherin. And to top it all off, you were, and you still are, a bit of a tattletale. I couldn't trust you to be mature enough to keep a secret this big."

Severus glared at his 'brother'.

"So you see, I had to wait. And I believe now was the right time for you to know. You are almost of age, and I would like you to know all the details before you enter out into the world."

"...is that all, Professor?"

"Call me Albus."

"Do I have to?"

"If you want to leave my office. Calling me by my given name will help us grow a more solid, brotherly bond."

"..."

"Say it."

"A..Al...Alb...A..."

"If Albus is too hard for you there is also my long list of middle names available. You could choose! There is Percival, Wulfric, and Brian. If you don't like those, you could even make up a little nickname. Yes, I believe we should do that. How about... Alby?"

Severus groaned.

"You aren't leaving this office until you say my name, Sev."

"Fine! ALBUS! Can I leave now?"

"Very well, Severus. You may go."
