It started with the crying
It was the crying
That made Nate realize
Someone was there
By his tree
Crying
He rushed forward
Being the gentleman he was
And soon enough
He could see it was Tess Tyler
So he hugged her
And held her
While she fell apart
But soon after
She looked at him
Without saying anything
So he asked, "What?"
"Why aren't you asking what happened?"
He explained to her
That it was her choice
Whether to tell him
Or not
She thought about
And soon enough
She'd told him everything
About her tradition
About the call
About the breakdown
About her mom
About her absence
And anything else there was to tell
He told her
Being mean wouldn't help
But then someone called his name
It was Nikki
And when Tess saw her
Nate noticed
The look of jealousy
In her eyes
So he explained
Nikki was his sister
"Your mom calls you?"
Tess sighed
And Nate's heart
Ached a little at her pain
The next day was Final Jam
And Nate waited anxiously
For Tess' performance
But it came and it went
Disastrously
With Tess running off the stage
Bursting into tears
And hiding for the rest of the night
But Nate knew where she'd go
So he went there
And saw her just like yesterday
Except she wasn't crying
Because she turned around
And actually smiled at him
She grabbed his hand
Pulling him closer
Put her hand on his neck
And kissed him
Even if he was surprised
He kissed her back
Because Tess wasn't what she seems
