Rory starts to fiddle her fingers impatiently over the cover. She looks at the man lying in bed next to her, he breathes heavily and he occasionally lets out a very soft snore. She bends over to him.
"Hey, Jess, are you sleeping?" she says lightly, her warm breath on his neck and her left hand stroking his arm gently. He tilts his head before barely opening his eyes and turning his neck to face her.
"I was, what's up?" he asks in a husky voice. He frowns as he looks at her face, sensitive by the light of the night lamp.
"Sorry, you can go back to sleep, it's nothing," she says softly, waving it off and he feels very tempted to take on her offer, but he notices as she bites her lower lip and holds the covers tightly around her and changes his mind.
"No, that's okay. Are you feeling something?" he asks, this time sounding a little worried, he turns on the bed so that his entire body is faced in her direction and instinctively places a hand on her stomach.
"Yes, no, I'm fine. It's not about it," she comforts him and places both her hands on top of his. "I was just thinking..." she stops and he waits quietly "You know The Catcher in The Rye?" she asks and he simply raises an eyebrow she shakes her head and smiles, both knowing this is a rhetorical question "well, you know how Holden says that a good book is the one that makes you want to call the author afterwards to talk about it?" she asks again and he nods lightly, curiosity picked. Her grin widens and she turns to her nightstand, he moves his head a little to see what she's doing but only finds out when she turns back to him again, a book in her hand. It takes him a while to realize what book it is, especially with the light coming straight from the back of the book, but it's only a matter of seconds until he recognizes the cover and smirks amused.
"Well, I just finished it," she says happily "and I love it that in my case all I have to do is turn around and poke," she concludes biting her lower lip to restrain herself to smile too much.
"So, I'm guessing you want to discuss it now?" he asks with a chuckle. She nods effusively and he sits in bed "Okay, shoot," he smirks while he waits her to open the book and find the parts she wants to talk about.
A.N.: Well, this is just an idea that came to me today, I didn't have a beta, so if you guys notice any mistakes feel free to point it out. I haven't been here in so long and I haven't really written anything in so long and I hope this means that I'll go back to writing from now on. In case you read my other stories, I do plan on finishing them, I even have a lot written for "The Girls That He Liked", I honestly just have to sit down and type it all in my computer. I hope you enjoyed this very small oneshot, I'd love to hear your opinions on it!
