ACT FIVE — SCENE FIVE
EXT. FIELD – NIGHT
SAM, DEAN and CAS lie on the ground, all wounded badly. Dead DEMONS and ANGELS surround them, ash wings on the ground under each angel. DEAN shifts, pulling himself halfway into a sitting position so he can see the others. SAM twitches slightly. DEAN turns to look directly at SAM, wincing as he moves.
DEAN
Hey, Sammy. You okay?
He sees SAM, and realizes he won't be able to survive the injuries. He seems to ignore this, but speaks with a forced lightness.
DEAN
Aw, Sammy, it's not even that bad. You'll see. They'll be here in just a minute, we'll get all fixed up. That next hunt you had for us, a what, Woman in White? We'll be done with that this time next week.
A noise comes from somewhere offscreen. DEAN turns to see CAS moving.
DEAN
Cas, we did it. It worked. You were amazing, man.
CAS opens his eyes to smile at DEAN.
CAS
Good. Dean, I've lost too much blood, I don't think —
DEAN stops him from saying anything more.
DEAN
Hey, no, you're gonna be fine. We all are.
CAS looks at him, raising an eyebrow slightly, clearly not fooled.
CAS
Dean —
CAS stops again, this time just too weak from blood loss to stay awake. His eyes close, and he stops breathing. DEAN leans over CAS slightly, looking pained. He kisses CAS gently on the lips, then pulls back slowly, breathing hard.
DEAN
See ya, Cas.
SAM moves slightly. DEAN turns back to see SAM looking at him still.
SAM
Hey, Dean. Is he-
SAM breaks off, seeing the answer in DEAN's face.
SAM
I'm sorry, Dean.
DEAN
Hey, nah, we're all gonna be fine. They'll be here any minute and they'll fix him up. You're gonna have to ride in the back seat for a week for getting hurt, freaking me out like this, y'know.
SAM smiles, despite clearly seeing through everything DEAN is saying.
SAM
Do I have to?
SAM seems to want to speak again, but can't. His eyes close, and he stops breathing. His face smooths out — he no longer looks in pain, but as if he's sleeping contently. DEAN half-smiles, sadly.
DEAN
'Night, Sam.
DEAN relaxes a little, now lying down fully. His eyes close. He stops breathing.
MUSIC - CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON starts playing.
Carry on, my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
As the instrumental portion starts playing, we zoom out to see all of them, then keep pulling out more slowly and fade into the SUPERNATURAL title screen.
