Imperfect is the new perfect

Kind of like a song-fic.

Juvia walked into the store with headphones in. She wants something cute for her date tonight, nothing too much. She knows that Gray loves her for her, so she doesn't need anything to change who she is. She starts looking through the skirts, but then he looks over to the teenage girls talking next to her. She turned down the music on her phone to hear their conversation. Juvia looks at their choice of clothing. She sees miniskirts and cleavage showing shirts.

"Do you think he will like this? Does it make me look short or even fat?" Juvia heard one girl ask.

"Well, to be completely honest, this shirt makes your stomach look fatter than it already is. Maybe just try a nice blouse?" The other girl answered.

"Oh good thinking! When I get home I'll work out a bit and maybe try to get rid of my last meal!"

"Perfect. He'll love it. Now, you can't mess this date up. We need to be popular, and the only way to do that is to have the hottest guys!" The two girls walked to the register and put their items on the counter and started to ask the women working there about how they look. Juvia looked mad. Why do all girls have to look like the ones in magazines? Why do they care so much about how they look and how popular they are? They are just too 'perfect'. Can't they tone down the make-up and accept their bodies. We are all different shapes and sizes and we're just perfect. Juvia thought to herself before she walked out of the store without buying anything. She knows that Gray will accept anything she wears. She doesn't need anything new to woe him. He appreciates her for her, not some fake.

Juvia decided to wear a simple blue tank top with ripped jeans. She slipped her sandals over her calloused feet. Thank fighting for those. She clipped on her charm bracelet over her tattooed wrist. The wrist that says "Gray." She grabbed her white cardigan before heading out of her apartment in Fairy Hills. Juvia walked towards the destination where Gray told her to meet him, but a pair of arms wrapped around her waist.

"Gray-Sama?"

"The one and only." Juvia turned around and blushed. Of course he didn't wear a shirt. Typical Gray.

"You look great." He kissed her forehead.

"Juvia saw some girls complaining about everything about them." She twiddled her fingers while looking down at the floor.

"They're fake. They probably try everything to look like the girls in magazines. They probably have races with other cars near them to see which one can go the fastest. They're not perfect. Imperfect is the new perfect. That's what you are Juvia. You're too colorful to conceal. You don't fit the mold. You don't want to look like them, you don't want to fit in their shoes, and you don't want to compare to them. This is what I love about you, Juvia. You accept your curves and you know you have someone thinking exactly the same. That person is me. They should just save the plastic for the toys. Never turn out like them. I love you for you." Gray squeezed her hand and lifted her chin with his finger.

"Please?"

"I promise, Gray. You do know who I am right? Juvia Lockser. Soon to be Juvia Fullbuster, well at least I hope. "

"Thank you." With that he kissed her. She wrapped her arms around his neck. Then Juvia saw something when they pulled apart. She saw the girl with her date, the one that she can't mess up with. They were arguing. He dropped everything she gave him and ran off. That's what you get for being too perfect. Just be yourself. That's exactly who I am, myself. Imperfect is the new perfect, I like that. Juvia thought to herself while she walked hand in hand with Gray back to his house.
