Disclaimer: I do not own InuYasha as it all belongs to Rumiko Takahashi, Shogakukan and Viz Media.

"Master Jaken must tell Rin what he is thankful for!" The little girl demanded as she poked the kappa youkai with a twig. Jaken pulled the Nintoujou closer and gave her a pointed glare.

"I'm thankful Lord Sesshoumaru has the patience to put up with a brat like you because I sure don't." Rin frowned and pulled the roasted fish from the fire "Well that wasn't nice Master Jaken! Kagome-sama said we're supposed to say nice things today!"

The youkai snatched his fish from the child and ate noisily before he spoke. "That Kagome speaks too much for her own good, and that filthy half-breed would do good to teach her manners in front of Lord Sesshoumaru!"

Rin frowned and poked him harder with the twig, causing the diminutive demon to squawk in pain. "What a mean thing to say about InuYasha-sama and Kagome-sama!"

Rubbing the sore spot on his side, Jaken moved further away from her and shoved his scaly arms in his sleeves. "If you're so intent on knowing what everyone else is thankful for what about you, stupid girl?" Thinking he had the child trapped with his smarts, the latter grinned slyly.

"Rin is thankful for the pretty flowers to pick, the mushrooms and fish to eat, having Master Jaken and Ah-Un for company and Rin is most thankful of all for-"

"Sesshoumaru-sama!" Their unified exclamation of joy at their lord's return met his ears as he entered the clearing. Rin seemed safe, well fed and happy; Jaken must have cared appropriately for her while he was gone and he was thankful for that.
