Shikaku, like any Nara man, was a lazy genius. Yoshino, like an woman a Nara man was a strong willed and beautiful woman.
So, how did these two opposites meet and fall in love? It started with a dog…
Shikaku, like any Genin in the village of Konoha, was on a three man cell. And, as a rookie, this three man cell was stuck doing D-rank missions. With D-ranks, the "D" obviously stands for any number of things such as dumb, droll, dull, dreary, and many more… But to Shikaku Nara, heir to the Nara clan, "D" stood for "drag," because to Shikaku, most everything was a drag. In this particular D-rank, Shikaku and his teammates, Inoichi and Chouza, were walking dogs. Now, as chores go, walking dogs seems pretty tame, right? Well no. These weren't just any dogs, but dogs of the Inuzuka clan, and they were a drag.
As they started their mission, after they had left the Inuzuka compound with their dogs in tow, Shikaku was being dragged along by one of the larger dogs, an evil demon named Kurokaze. Because Shikaku was like any other Nara man, he let the dog take the lead, and Shikaku followed. Because Shikaku wasn't paying attention, he knocked into a civilian girl, probably not much younger than himself.
Shikaku quickly stopped the dem—excuse me, dog—from pulling him along. (He wasn't a ninja for nothing.) He pulled on the leash, letting Kurokaze know that they needed to stop. The young Nara quickly helped the girl stand up. "I'm sorry, miss, I wasn't looking where I was going."
"Of course you weren't, you lazy ass. You're a Nara, aren't you? Everyone knows you only do what you can be bothered to, and you obviously weren't bothered enough to stop that dog," the unknown girl snapped at him.
"Well," Shikaku's blond teammate interrupted, "he was bothered enough to help you up."
The girl looked at Shikaku with a sharp eye. "My name's Yoshino, and you're taking me on a date tonight. I expect to see you at eight at Mitarashi's Dango on the north side of the village."
The girl, now known as Yoshino, quickly walked off. "… What just happened?" Shikoku asked, rhetorically.
"You, my lazy friend, have a date." Chouza answered, looking pleased enough for both himself and his lazy friend.
"I'm only twelve!"
And the rest, they say is history.
AN: This is just various points in life for Shikaku and Yoshino, because I think they're cute. Don't expect this to be canon, but neither is it AU. The next chapter is probably going to have their first date. Maybe after that their wedding... etc.
