We are the Hyuga. Our eyes, blank and seemingly sightless, see everything.
Maybe we're not just seemingly blind. We can see the surface of the ocean, and under it. But it always seems that we choose not to delve deeper. Maybe it's better this way.
The worst tormenter is always yourself. Why waste the energy and pain knowing something...if all you will do is torture yourself with the knowledge?
So we'll close our eyes. In our mind, we'll make the world go away.
Even if it's still there.
Because we can, in our world of fantasy. Behind closed eyelids that never truly shut and with white eyes that never truly open.
Maybe we shouldn't try to fence ourselves in...we really probably shouldn't.
We've closed all our ports long ago, back when there were still other boats trying to reach out to us. Our own boats have long since deteriorated.
There's just one path open to us now, a blindly black (or was it white) tunnel that sees no light and fears no shadow but its own. It's rather fitting.
Even the strongest tree will yield if there is a wind strong enough.
We shiver. The wind is picking up.

Drabble. 200 words. The entire thing is a prompt I had that somehow morphed into this. A lot more somber now, yeah?
Entire thing is like a long, lisping rant. I think I lost myself with a few of these sentences...ah, well. The dysfunctional Hyuga family is just too easy a thing to love...and hate.
