Now, before reading this story, those of you who thought When You're All Alone was angsty, let me be the first to warn you. This story will most definitely be worse.
The definition of a backdraft for those that don't know is: a condition in a fire where oxygen is depleted and the fire dies down until a door is opened and the fire flares violently from the intake of oxygen.
"Sweetie! Come on!" Angela raced after her friend who was several feet ahead of her.
"Angela, I have work to do!" Brennan spun around and said before turning back and hurrying into the Jeffersonian.
"You've been working for 56 hours straight. You need to go home and get some rest."
"When I'm tired, I'll go to sleep, but until then, I'm working."
"What else do you plan on finding? We know that Megan Lee was murdered by serial killer arsonist who creates backdrafts to kill his victims. Hodgins is still trying to figure it out at home as we speak."
"Maybe I can find something else that can help the investigation."
Angela growled and walked up onto the platform as Brennan went to her office, "Alright, Bren, you got thirty minutes, and then I am going to drag you home!"
Brennan rolled her eyes and laughed. The smell of something burnt reached her nose, but she shrugged it off. It was probably just from one of Zach and Hodgins many experiments. However, when she opened the door to her office, smoke started to billow out of her office.
Angela turned around the very second she heard an explosion and her friend scream and Angela screamed herself as she watched Brennan become enveloped in a large ball of flame that burst from her office. She ran down the steps of the platform towards Brennan's body. Ignoring the heat from the blazing inferno, she tugged Brennan to a safe distance before being able to beat out the flames on her body and then continued dragging her until she was outside the lab, barely hearing the security guards call 911, before checking the damage. Nausea and tears nearly overcame her as she saw her friend's mangled and burned body.
