~ Just one call from the other, he'd be off in a flash. ~

The woman woke at the weight shifting on the other side of the bed, at the arms that snaked tenderly around her waist, and at the warmth of the body as it pressed against her back. The warmth that she had longed for since before she could sleep last night.

"It seems that your wife had pulled an all-nighter on you..." The woman muttered in a sleepy tone, yet unable to suppress a sigh of content...and utter relief.

It was her that he had married, though one call from the other, and he'd be off in flash.

The detective tried to hold back a chuckle beneath the tresses of her strawberry-blonde hair, enjoying the scent he had missed all those hours of anticipation.

It was just so her to put the situation as such. Referring to his job as his 'wife', and she herself as only his 'mistress', if based on all the attention he gave. Before he was even aware, it had become a constant inside joke between them.

But like always, there was no hint of upset, anger or jealousy. Just amusement. For he knew she perfectly understood the demand of his job. Of course, she would continue to worry, would repeatedly warn him of the danger, however, not once did she stop him from doing what he had loved doing. Actually, she would even lend a hand sometimes...with a roll of her eyes, on the side.

Besides, both always knew that no matter what happened...

"Tadaima*...Shiho."

He'd always come back...

"Okaeri*...Shin'ichi."

...home to her.

*Tadaima - In this story, it means, 'I'm home'.

*Okaeri - The response to the greeting above, 'Welcome home'.

A/N: I freaking love Shiho's twisted humour. XD
And I really do think she's not that jealous type of character. Unlike other DC girls I've known. So, I can only imagine this scene with her.

And of course, I have to throw in some Shin'ichi, as proof that I'm a certified, hard-to-the-core, even if all the cockroaches die, die-hard CoAi/ShinShi fan.
You can't really sue me, can you? XP
