Lighting flashed in the rainy sky, followed by the boom of thunder in the distance. The rain poured down, soking everthing in its path. Even those who were lucky enough to have had an umbrella on hand couldn't handle the winds, which threatened to rip the umbrella out of their hands.Nothing was safe from its freezing wrath, even trees seemingly had no effect in stopping the downpour. The storm came suddenly, without warning. The weather people were either snoozing on the job, or were terrible at it. People scrambled to make it to their homes, or any public area, as long as it was dry. Everyone, even stray animals, were trying to escape the foul weather, except for one human child. They sat under a tree curled up and were crying into their knees. They were alone, and it wasn't because of the rain. They had nothing, no home, no family, sometimes, they felt as if they didn't even have themselves. They wished they could curl up and just cease to exist, and it was all their fault. Some people portrayed monsters as the poor species that was trapped underground for years, but this was the reason for it, they deserved it. Monsters were exactly what they were called, MONSTERS.
"Uhm are you ok?".
Who could possibly still be out in this weather. They looked up, hoping the rain would hide their tears. Another one. It was little goat monster, wearing a green and yellow sweater.
"Go away.".
"What's wrong?".
"Everything.".
"Do you want to talk abou it?".
"Do I look like I want to talk about it?".
They buried their head back into their arms. The little monster sat next to him.
"I'm Asriel.".
"I don't care.".
"You'll catch a cold out here.".
"I don't care.".
"What happened to you?".
"Your kind happened to me.".
"What do you mean?".
"Monsters took away everything. My family, home, everything.".
"That's terrible.".
"You monsters were trapped underground for years, abd when a human comes along and releases you, this is how you repay us. I wish I would just die.".
"Not all humans are good, and not all monsters are good, but you can't let that get you down.".
"Get me down? I'm more than just down in the dumps. I'm having suicidal thoughts and you simply tell me to not let life get me down?".
The little goat monster stood up.
"All I'm saying is that you can still have a future. Remember that.".
"Whatever.".
"What's your name?".
"... Alvin.".
"Well Alvin, let's you and me be friends, then you can say you have something to live for.".
"... Ok.".
The next day Asriel ran into Alvin again.
"Howdy Alvin, how's it go- oh god.".
They were sitting in a mound of grey dust, clutching a dirty knife.
"A-Alvin? What happened?".
"I-I didn't mean to. They said they would make my wish come true but... I didn't want to die... I don't want to die.".
Asriel wrapped his arms around them.
"It's going to be ok, it was self defence, everything going to be fine. Come on, I'll take you to my house and we can get you cleaned up.".
"Ok...thank you Asriel.".
