I walked, my head down. 'She's gone!' I wailed in my head. I couldn't believe it. My love, gone like a spark blown out. Gone, forever.

"Crowpaw." It was Squirrelpaw. "I'm sorry." I stopped and turned on her. "Sorry? What do you know about sorry? What do you know about pain. What do you know about me? I wish you all would just leave me alone!" I turned away and ran, off into nowhere, tears streaming down my face.

When you're gone, the words I need to near to help get me through the day, and make it OK.

"Let my spirit ancestors look down upon this apprentice. He has trained hard to learn the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Crowpaw, do you promise to defend the Clan and uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?" Tallstar's voice rang out.

"I do." I meowed.

"Then, from now on, your name will be..." Tallstar paused, for suspense.

"Tallstar?" I mewed suddenly. An idea had come to me. Tallstar looked down at me.

"Yes?"

"Wish to name myself after one dead, one that sacrificed her life for us. I would like my name to be Crowfeather." I heard Mistyfoot gasp; she knew exactly whom I was naming myself after.

"Well, this is unusual. I will grant you your request. By the powers of Starclan, I give you your new name. From now on your name will be Crowfeather."

Cats swarmed around me, calling my new name. But it was just whispers to me, as I listened to the voice only I could hear. The voice of Feathertail. 'Crowfeather, Crowfeather!' she called.

"Feathertail" I murmured. "Why did you have to go?

'Crowfeather' she called again. 'I love you. Do not go on mourning for me. Look at the one in front of you, the one you love. Love her, as you loved me. Until we meet again...' her voice faded away.

I walked trying to puzzle out what she had said. Suddenly I ran into something.

"Oof!" meowed the cat. I looked up and saw that it was Leafpaw.

"Oh, sorry." I apologized.

"Well, watch where you're going next time." she mrrowed, "I gotta go. Congrats on your warrior name."

As I looked back, my blue eyes met amber. Then I suddenly didn't care that her eyes weren't blue, or her fur was brown, not silver. I loved her.
