Cam rounded the corner of the corridor on his way to the gateroom and promptly smacked into Sam Carter. As they collided only Cam's quick reflexes saved the file folder Sam was carrying from spilling its contents onto the floor.
"Oof" Sam breathed as she regained her balance "sorry about that Cam."
Cam handed the folder back and straightened out his blue uniform shirt and said absentmindedly "no problem Sam, my fault I wasn't watching where I was going."
"Where are you going?" She asked curiously as she watched him run his hands over his shirt to smooth out any wrinkles. "You seemed like you were in a hurry?"
He refocused his attention on her "on my way to the gateroom to greet some people."
"The Atlantis crew? I wasn't aware you knew anyone that was part of the expedition?" She raised an eyebrow in query.
Cam grinned widely at her "yeah, of course I do, my brother. He's coming home today."
Sam stared at him in shock "Your brother? I didn't know you had a brother?"
"Yep" he kept grinning.
She frowned "you've never talked about him before."
"Well I haven't seen him in over year now, since before I joined SG-1, and he's never been one for writing letters home." He glanced at his watch and then stepped around her continuing towards the gateroom. "I'll see ya later" he called over his shoulder.
Sam quickly hurried after him "wait, what's his name?"
Cam gave her a mischievous look "it's a surprise."
"You're not going to give me his name?"
"Nope, I wanna introduce you in person. Don't worry, you'll like him."
They stepped through the doors of the gateroom together and quickly jumped to the side narrowly avoiding getting run over by someone in an Atlantis science uniform who was pushing a rather large crate on a doily. The gateroom was a zoo of personnel wandering around looking lost with more continuously coming through the gate. There were several officers that Cam recognized desperately trying to direct people to were they needed to go.
Cam spotted Generals Landry and O'Neill standing near the end of the ramp greeting people as they walked past. Well, Landry greeted people; O'Neill just stood there idly and nodded his head at a few people. Daniel and Vala also stood behind the Generals seemingly engrossed in another argument. Cam shook his head, those two couldn't even have a simple conversation without things getting heated.
As they joined the little group by the ramp Sam looked around and asked "so where is he?"
"Where's who?" Gen. O'Neill turned to face them looking curious.
"My brother" Cam answered. He smirked at Sam "he isn't here yet."
"You have a brother?" Vala broke in "is he younger or older" she demanded.
"Oh yeah" said O'Neill, oblivious to Vala's interruption "half-brother right."
Cam nodded at him and then answered Vala "he's older by five years."
Just then the senior staff of Atlantis emerged from the gate. They walked down the ramp and the Generals stepped forward to meet them. As they came to a stop Lt. Colonel Sheppard saluted "sirs."
Landry nodded at him while O'Neill smirked. "Colonel, Dr. Weir, Dr. McKay, Dr. Beckett" Landry nodded at each of them in turn "welcome back to Earth."
Dr. Weir inclined her head "thank you General, I only wish it were on a slightly happier occasion."
"Indeed" Landry replied. "Let's get you down to the infirmary and get you cleared so we can begin the debriefing."
As the Atlantis group turned to follow Landry, Cam called out "John."
Sheppard turned around and grinned "hey Cam."
Cam stepped forward and grasped his brother's arm pulling him into a one armed hug.
