I orignally wrote this poem for a journalism class I was taking, and had no intention of submitting it here, but then my teacher printed it in the school paper, except he editted it so it was completely different than before, which really ticked me off. He changed all the wording, and ended up being a completely different poem. To express my outrage, I'm posting the orignal poem here. (Where more people will see it anyway!!! :P )
The poem isn't about any wrestler in particular, but about them all. :)
************
He lives for the moment
Never breaking a nerve
He lets the adrenaline run through them
He lets their voices be heard
His face shows nothing
Of what he feels inside
The fear that overcomes him
And swallowed him alive
They know only what they see
And what they see is no fear
Risking his life
For the pop of the year
No one can know better
Than what they see
Coming to them live
Via satellite TV
They can't know
the fear that faces him each and every day
If something goes wrong
There will be no way out
And as he presses in
his mind fills with doubt
Could this be it?
Could this be the end?
But he keeps it inside
With grim determination on his face
He can't predict the things he cannot prevent
For now he'll just be satisfied
Living for the moment.
