Goodbye, Old Friend
Blazer
A middle-aged man steppe up to the door of the Kamiya-Kashim Dojo. It has been a few years since he visited last. He rapped on the door lightly with his knuckles. As the door opened, the ran a hand through his unruly brown hair and cracked a smile.
"Sano," the excited voice at the door called out to the visitor.
"Kenji, it's been a few years....is Kenshin here?" Kenji looked at the ground and shifted his feet slightly.
"Umm... he died a few years back Sano. The day he got back from Yokohona....barely made it to Mom's arms. She died a year after him," Kenji said clearly so that Sano would unerstand him. Sano had a devastated look on his face, his arms shaking slightly.
"I've been living here for a year, after I finished my training with Master. Yahiko took over Mom's position as Kamiya-Kashim Master," Kenji said.
"Oh, Sano, please, come in. I've been going on and I know you must be tired. Please, come in."
Sanosuke walked into the dojo and the past hit him in the face like a solid object. He remembered his first fight with Kenshin. The way his sword cut right through the Zanbitou. All the advertures they had went on after he, Sano, had begun to stay at the Dojo. He remembered their fight with the Oni-Wabanshu, especially Kenshin's fight with OUshi Shinamaru. That had been impressive.
Kenshin seemed to always get them into some sort of trouble, being the Hitokiri Battousai, but he also always got them out of it. Now what would he do without his best friend? What could he possibly do?
Sano was sitting on the back porch, a warm breeze stirring his untidy hair, when the back door slid open and Yahiko stepped out.
"Hello Sano, Kenji told me you were out here. How are you," Yajiko asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
"I don't know right now Yahiko, I....don't know," Sano said quietly, his voice shaking slightly.
"I remember when you had that big party here......that was a great time," Yahiko said, grinning broadly.
"Did you know that me and Kenshin fought later thant night," Sano asked.
"No, I didn't. Why," Yahiko questioned, starring hard at Sano.
"Me and an old friend were going to blow up a capatalist building, but Kenshin stopped us. Good man, Kenshin was. He always had my back. I'm gonna miss him," Sano said quietly.
Sano stood up slowly, a full bottle of sake at his side, and walked out of the back gate. Before he knew where he was going, he was standing by Kenshin's headstone, which read:
Kenshin Himura
"His antonement was
finally found."
Sano tipped the bottle and drained out the rest of the sake. He tossed the empty bottle and watched as it shattered over Kenshin's headstone.
"Damn you Kenshin. You've finally gotten what you've wanted and now you can rest in peace. I'll just start wandering again. Where I end up, I have no clue, but....oh well."
Sano was sitting by the grave. He had sat because all of the sake he had drinken went straight to his head and made him dizzy.
After several hours, Sano stood up and began to walk away, but stopped, still keeping his back to the grave.
"Kenshin, you've changed my life in so many ways and I can't thank you enough. Good by old Friend, I will never foget you," and with that said, Sanosuke Sagara set off along, still thinking Goodbye old Friend...
