Lies

By tami

A child's vivid azure eyes glare reproachfully at me through a curtain of feathery bangs.

He scowls as I correct his stance, but he moves as I direct him anyway,

His small hands tremble from the effort of supporting the blade's weight.

I put mine over his own and take some of the hardship away.

(No. It can't be.)

A length of long lavender hair gilded with silver is blown behind a man by the wind.

In his hand he wields an ax, on his face, an expectant expression.

I swing a sword over my head and bring it down, the metal flashing in the sun.

He blocks it expertly and with a *CLANG*, he compliments the blow.

(Wrong. All wrong.)

A figure with features near identical to mine makes it through the mist.

In the lines of his face there lies stern compassion and a general's authority

The weight of responsibility is clearly etched in the thoughtful frown.

He then smiles and accepts the toy I hand him, beaming at my enthusiastic cheer.

(That not what happened.)

A pair of bright blue eyes peers kindly at me as I sob in the baseless pain of a fall.

As a smattering of blood leaks through the minor wound, she holds my hand.

My head is pushed into her shoulder and cool fingers are run through my tan hair.

I stop resisting and tearfully let her kiss my cheek and nurse the cut.

(Just another deception.)

Pretty lips painted a glossy pale violet purse in momentary confusion.

Red-wine eyes with the clarity of a clever young beauty stare deep into mine.

They dilate in overjoyed shock as she recognizes the sincerity in the question.

She whispers her choked consent and welcomes my relieved embrace.

(Lies. All of it.)

I was happy.

Um. There you go. Dario struggling to remember his past on that island where there's no one but him and the nurse lady. Alright, then. Review. Bye, until next time.
