He's Following Me!
AN: I've been in a drabble-ie mood, so here it is! And to those who know about me canceling the other story, I'm sorry!
1-8-09 AN: whoot! I revised this, because it's actually remained one of my favorites but I thought it was horribly bare. :)
-remember: This was written in season 2. So, I know it's no longer canon. :D but it's still cute!
It was a crisp autumn evening as Bones walked the scenic route from the Jeffersonian to her home. It was still nice and warm, but she knew it would cool down fast so she picked up the pace a little bit. About ten minutes ago, she had noticed that she was being followed, and promptly called Booth.
"Booth, he's still following me…" Bones said, peeking over her shoulder.
"Bones, chill. He won't hurt you." Booth's voice was reassuring on the other side – she prayed he was right.
"But he looks evil. And how do you know he won't hurt me?"
"I just know he won't. If he's following you he likes you."
"Sure, or I could look like something he'd like to eat…" she said, still not certain that she wouldn't be harmed.
"Like he could eat you."
"Size isn't everything!"
"For some creatures, yes. Especially when they're up against you," Booth reminded her, chuckling slightly.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Bones asked, deciding to sit down on a nearby park bench – the last thing she needed was for it to know where she lived.
"That you always put up a fight."
"He's coming closer… Are you sure he won't eat me?"
"Yes, I am."
"But he has sharp teeth!"
"How do you know?"
"They all have sharp teeth! He's sitting in front of me!"
"Okay, slowly reach down and put your hand between his ears. Now gently rub him."
"Okay…" Bones did as she was told. "He licked me!"
"That means he likes you," Booth said, and Bones could practically hear him smiling.
"He jumped onto the bench!"
"Continue to pet him."
"Hey… that kinda tickles!" Bones giggled as he licked her hand.
"See? There's no reason to be afraid of him."
"He's so cute! Do you think I could keep him?"
"I'm guessing you could. Does he have a collar?"
"No," she answered, continuing to give the dog a good petting.
"Then you should be able to keep him."
"Thanks! Well I'm going to go now. Bye, Booth." And with that, she hung up her phone.
Poor Bones. Afraid of a cute little puppy. She made him sound like a killer! Booth thought as he turned the volume back up on the basketball game he had been watching on TV.
The End!
R&R, please!
