A/N: Hiya peeps! Finally I have updated! This was all written today and note Beta'd at all soooooooooo...forgive me -puppy eyes- Anyways, feel free to comment. Just my view on what would happen the first Christmas (Day of Gift Giving in winter) after the tragedy in episode 25!
"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy wake up!" Elysia Hughes whined as she tugged at the comforter that covered her slowly waking mother, Gracia.
"What is it, sweetie?" Gracia asked as she sat up in bed.
"Come see the tree!" Elysia replied, attempting to tug her mother out of bed.
"I'm coming, I'm coming." Gracia laughed softly as she stood out of bed and pulled on the red robe her husband had gotten her for Christmas the previous year.
Maes had been such a kind, gentle soul that cared deeply for his family. He had always spoiled Elysia. Gracia felt a pang in her heart as she remembered her late husband. She missed him so much as the days past by when she longed to hear his voice, or feel his arms around her. She could sometimes hear his laughter when Elysia would do something adorable.
"Mommy!" Elysia's whine echoed through the house, signaling her impatience and disrupting her mother's thoughts.
"I'm coming!" Gracia called back as she made her way down the hall to the living room.
The moment she stepped into the living room a gasp escaped her lips. She had only been able to buy Elysia fifteen gifts this year, but now sitting under the tree were thirty wrapped presents in addition to the fifteen Gracia had bought. Elysia was sitting by the presents smiling happy.
"Mommy look!" Elysia pointed to all the presents.
"I see, sweetie. Santa was very generous this year, wasn't he?" Gracia smiled back, wondering silently where all the gifts had come from.
"Ooooo Mommy! There's even one for you!!" Elysia exclaimed happily, picking up a long velvet box, something that a necklace would come in.
"There is..?" She smiled a bit more and sat beside her daughter, allowing Elysia to begin opening her presents.
Gracia opened the velvet box to find a guardian angel on a necklace. Upon turning the angel over she saw the words "Maes Hughes" inscribed in the angel's back. A few tears rolled down her cheeks as she read the card that was attached to it.
The card was from General Roy Mustang. He wrote: "Gracia, This Christmas should still be special, even if Maes isn't here. We pulled together some toys for Elysia and money for this necklace for you. Have a good day and never forget, Maes is your guardian angel now. Merry Christmas. Truly, Roy Mustang." Gracia wiped the tears off her face and smiled at Elysia.
"Mommy, what's wrong?" The little girl looked up worriedly.
"It's nothing. Merry Christmas sweetie." Gracia said, avoided the subject all-together.
"Merry Christmas, Mommy." Elysia replied before finishing her gifts.
Under her breath Gracia gently stated, "Merry Christmas Maes."
A moment later she felt wind tickle her ear and could've swore she heard, "Merry Christmas Gracia."
