Sunday Dinner with Buddy Pine

Buddy's father was working late again, and Buddy's mother was off on one of her trips (Buddy's mother always went away when she got angry) but 7 year old Buddy was having a pleasant Sunday dinner anyway.

"Here, have some coffee Mr. Incredible." Buddy poured more coffee into the cardboard standup's already overflowing cup.

"It was so nice of you to join Me, Randy (a plush lizard sitting in his mother's chair) and Pepper (a plush pitbull who was face down in a bowel of imaginary dog food) for dinner tonight. I'm sure you much rather be hanging out with your fellow supers. Dad's working late and I don't know when mom will be back-No, I don't think Dad will mind you sitting in his chair."

Mr. Incredible "asked" where Buddy's mother was.

"I don't know where my mother is this time. She's not at Aunt Lucy's or her friend Rachel's and I don't think she's on speaking terms with Uncle Brian, so her whereabouts are unknown."

Mr. Incredible asked why she left.

"I don't know why Mr. Incredible." Buddy sighed and rested the side of his face in the palm of his hand.

"She just gets angry and leaves the house. Dad gets angry too and works even longer hours then usual. You want some more soup Randy?"

Randy "requested" some flies in his.

"Randy, stop being stupid. (Buddy gave the plush lizard a firm smack) Flies are out of season."

Pepper "whined" that he wanted to sit at the table.

"But Pepper, we're all out of chairs."

Pepper "whined" and "gave" a pleading look.

"Well, I guess we we can use the step ladder." Buddy seated Pepper on the stepladder.

After the dinner dishes were cleaned (Mr. Incredible wasn't much of a help because he kept dropping dishes) Buddy, Randy, and Pepper watched Tim Pausible, a popular cartoon about a teenage spy.

"Are you sure you're alright with standing, Mr. Incredible? There is plenty of room on the sofa." Buddy asked the cardboard standup.

Mr. Incredible "replied" that he was afraid that his massive weight would break the fragile sofa.

"Oh, don't be silly, Mr. Incredible, you're not fat."

Tim Pausible was very exciting that evening: he had to defuse a bomb that could destroy Texas and rescue a princess from a visiting country. He did this with the help of many cool things like submarine/plane combination and a ray gun.

"When I grow up, I'm gonna build things like that." Buddy declared.

All too soon, it was 9:00 pm: Buddy's bedtime.

"It was nice having you over, Mr. Incredible, but I've got to go to bed and you probably have fight some late night crime." Buddy put the standup in the conner of his room.

"I hope you can bring some of your super friends next time." Buddy hoped he would be able to buy some of the other standup soon, he didn't want Mr. Incredible to get lonely after all.

He didn't deserve to be lonely like Buddy.
