Author's Note: Bethenril is such an uncommon pairing, but it's so crack. Please review and tell me if you would like to see more of this pairing. Thanks for reading!

The scent of freshly baked apple pie struck Bethany's nostrils as she walked into her room. She surveyed her room. Nothing seemed to be out of place and her window was still shut, just as it was in the morning when she had left. Quietly, she closed the door to avoid unwanted attention, praying to the Maker no one else caught a whiff.

The pie lay on her bed alone, illuminated by sunlight spilling in through the only window in her room. Steam rose from the slits of the pie, revealing glazed apple chunks underneath the golden crust. A single note in barely legible handwriting clung to the side of the pan that housed the confection.

"I left some milk under your bed. Enjoy."

-A

A? The only "A" Bethany knew was Anders and even he wasn't insane enough to sneak into the Gallows just to deliver a pie. She peeked under her bed to find a tall glass of milk, wrapped handily in a thick sheet of plastic. Whoever A was clearly wanted Bethany to enjoy her meal.

One bite became two bites. Three became four. It reached a point where she couldn't stop eating because she knew the Templars would ask questions if they found out, but it was so damn delicious she didn't want to stop. "Mother must have baked this," she thought. "Or Hawke. Now that's a thought."

How could someone manage to sneak a pie into her room, anyway? Templars guarded the mages' quarters daily. Anyone trying to reach this wing of the Gallows would have to had evaded their watchful eyes and find a way to escape undetected.

It wasn't until Bethany washed down the last crumb with the last gulp of milk that she finally figured out the identity of the mysterious A.

It was the same A whom she had worked with for two years.

The only A who was capable of smuggling a pie into the Gallows.

Athenril.

Bethany smiled. She didn't know how or why the smuggler had delivered her a fresh apple pie and it was probably for the best. But she hoped to the Maker that it wouldn't be the last time.
