Porcelain Heart
Broken heart one more time
Pick yourself up, why even cry
Broken pieces in your hands
Wonder how you'll make it whole
Cold, harsh rain hit the ground in a soothing rhythm; the streets of Konoha were deserted. The residents of the normally lively village sat inside the comfort of theirs homes, huddled by fireplaces, enjoying the company of family and friends.
Naruto walked alone, enjoying the sensation of the cold liquid running down his face and soaking him to the bone.
If anyone had seen him they may have thought he was an imposter, trying to steal Naruto's identity. The Naruto that stood alone was not the one everyone knew; his smile, which constantly put the sun to shame, was not present and the usual light in his expressive sky blue eyes had been put out.
He was tired. No one knew what it was like to wallow in your misery each and every night until your eyes burned from all the tears you shed and your body could no longer function properly and you slipped into unconsciousness. No one knew how much the constant rejection weighed on his malnourished shoulders. But worst of all was the way he felt so completely and utterly drained after a day full of fake smiles, put on only so that everyone around him could continue to live their blissfully ignorant lives. All he wanted was to feel loved and be accepted for who he truly was. He was not the Kyuubi container. He was Naruto Uzumaki, and was done pretending for the sake of others.
You know, you pray
This can't be the way
You cry, you say
Something's gotta change
And mend this porcelain heart of mine
He looked down the road to see two people running towards him, both holding umbrellas.
"Naruto!" Sakuras' shrill voice called out to him over the howling of the wind.
'Great,' He sighed, 'time for a smile.'
On cue, his lips pulled up to show off his teeth and his eyes closed, to feign happiness, "Hey Sakura-Chan! Hey Teme!"
They stopped in front of him, close enough to shield his already drenched body with their combined umbrellas.
"Naruto, what are you doing out here?! Didn't you hear?" Sakura asked, her face was a mix of concern and annoyance.
He rubbed the back of his head, shyly, "Ah, hear what, Sakura-chan?"
"There's a storm coming." Sasuke answered.
Naruto looked at the black haired youth before him; it was his voice that made Naruto's heart flutter in his chest and pound so harshly against his ribs that sometimes he worried it would rip right through his bone and flesh to expose itself for all to see.
Naruto looked past them at the black clouds that shot blots of electricity towards the wet land.
"Sakura, get home." he said.
They all watched as the worst of the storm drew nearer.
"Naruto! What about you? You won't make it home on time." Sakura's voice was filled with concern.
There was a brief pause before Sasuke spoke, "He can stay with me. Now go."
"Hurry and be careful." With that Sakura ran off, casting them a final farewell glance.
Someone said "A broken heart
Would sting at first then make you stronger"
You wonder why this pain remains
Were hearts made whole just to break?
Sasuke began walking in the direction of his home only to notice, a few steps later, that Naruto was not following.
"Let's go, Dobe." he said.
'Go?' Naruto thought, 'What for? All I am is a burden… I'd rather stay here and let the storm take me away.'
He turned to look at Sasuke. His eyes had once again taken up their dull shade, and his smile had turned down into the barest beginnings of a frown. Sasuke flinched at the sight of this never before seen Naruto. He was so empty, resembling a shell without a soul.
"We don't have much time, Naruto. Let's go." he said firmly, trying to pretend that his best friend didn't look like he'd much rather stay in the storm.
"Go," the worlds were barely audible, "I don't want to live anymore."
Anger contorted Sasuke's normally indifferent facade. Quickly closing the difference between them, he threw his fist out. Naruto did nothing as Sasuke's fist connected with his cheek and knocked him to the muddy ground.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Sasuke yelled, incapable of thinking anything more than that.
Naruto didn't react; he just lied there, waiting for Sasuke to walk away. Surprise briefly lit up his baby blues when Sasuke picked him up, slung him over his shoulder, and proceeded to sprint towards his house. The wind had quickly become harsher and rain was pouring down harder, practically blinding Sasuke. He reached his house and slammed the door shut mere seconds before the storm would have swept them away. Sasuke drew in quick, ragged breaths as he unceremoniously dropped Naruto onto his couch and threw himself down beside him.

Hours passed in silence. Naruto's eyes were glued to the ground, and Sasuke's eyes were glued to Naruto.
A raspy, unfamiliar voice broke the silence, "Why'd you bring me?"
Sasuke wouldn't have known it was Naruto's if he had not been watching him so intently.
'Why did I bring Naruto?' Sasuke wondered, 'For Sakura, right?'
"Sakura. She would have been upset over your death." He answered, his voice a little rougher than usual.
Naruto's laugh was devoid of emotion, "Yeah right. She doesn't care for anything other than her precious Sasuke-kun."
Sasuke opened his mouth to argue but closed it when Naruto's envious glare met his clouded onyx eyes.
"There was no reason in bringing me here! No one cares for me, no one would miss me! I bet they wouldn't even notice my disappearance!" He yelled, tightly gripping the cushion beneath him.
Silence engulfed them once more.
Naruto could not help the train of thoughts brought on by his little outburst. Memories played like a broken reel of film in his mind. Every moment spent in the company of Sasuke had been pure bliss for him, from the time he first laid eyes on the smug raven haired boy, til this very moment. But the one memory that always made his heart stop beating was the time they accidently kissed.
Creator only You take brokenness
And create it into beauty once again
Sasuke watched Naruto as his eyes took on a faraway look and emotions played across his sun kissed face. A small smile found its way to Sasuke's lips as Naruto's over all presence began to radiate happiness.
"I know someone who would miss you." It was no more than a whisper, but it was enough to draw Naruto from his reverie.
Naruto scoffed, "Oh yeah? Pray tell who?"
Sasuke's eyes darted to the ground in moment of uncertainty before looking straight into lifeless blue eyes.
"I would." he whispered.
Completely caught off guard, Naruto's eyes widened in surprise and his lips parted taking it a harsh breath of air. He opened his mouth to say something, but when no words came out he tightly pressed his lips together.
Before Sasuke could fully comprehend his own actions, he closed his eyes and leaned forward, pressing his lips against Naruto's. Naruto let his eyelids drop as he burned this moment into his memory.
Sasuke pulled away and stared at Naruto. Naruto stared back.
Naruto opened his mouth to ask why Sasuke had done that, but all that came out was a weak, "I love you."
Sasuke's eyes widened and ever so slowly a small smile settled on his lips, "I, uh, love you too, Dobe."
Then, for the first time in years, Naruto smiled. Not his fake everyday smile, but a real, genuine smile. He had finally found what he'd always wanted; someone that accepted and loved him. And that person was the one and only Sasuke Uchiha.

Something's gotta change
Naruto's attention was grabbed the rays of sunlight flittering in through the open blinds. For once he wanted nothing more than to bask in the beauty of the sun. He took Sasuke's hand into his own and pulled him outside, barely containing his excitement.
As they reached the Uchiha Compound Gates, Naruto stopped and looked at Sasuke, "I promise, I'll do anything to help you fulfill all your future dreams and goals."
Sasuke smiled and pulled Naruto close, wrapping his free arm around him neck, "Stay with me and I'll have everything I need."
Naruto smiled, tears welling up in his eyes. Sasuke placed a chaste kiss on Naruto's lips before disentangling himself and walking ahead.
He stopped and noticed once more that Naruto was not following. He looked back and the sight that greeted him was Naruto rubbing the back of his head, grinning and blushing like an idiot. Sasuke decided that this was his favorite expression on his blonde.
Sasuke smirked and held his hand out to Naruto, "Come on, let's go get some ramen."
Naruto quickly closed the distance between them and intertwined his fingers with Sasuke's as they resumed their walking.
"You're paying." Naruto said.
Sasuke lightly laughed, "Yes, I'm aware."
Naruto threw his arms over Sasuke's shoulders and kissed his cheek, "Thanks Sasuke!"
As the sun began to set a sense of peace settled into Konoha. The new couple walked down the streets, enjoying each other's company and finally finding peace within their own hearts.
You know, you pray
This can't be the way
You cry, you say
Something's gotta change
And mend this porcelain heart,
please mend this porcelain heart, of mine
Naruto glanced at Sasuke's smiling face as the fading sunlight cast an ethereal glow around him. There was no doubt in his mind that Sasuke would mend his fragile heart because Sasuke was the only one his heart continuously beat for.
Of mine. . . Creator
Mend. . . This. . . Heart
