Lost


Darkness is all around me
I'm drowning in a sea of pain tonight
Since you left, I can't see
The darkness steals the light

It's cold in here
Am I alive or dead?
Surrounding me is all I fear
And things look worse up ahead

This is a fairy tale, you're the White Knight
I, your damsel in distress
You'll save the day with a heroic fight
And we'll find true happiness

But when I reach for your hand
Mine grips nothing but air
I don't understand
Why weren't you there?

I've been foresaken
I'm a lost soul, a lost cause
I'm broken and shaken
My hero is gone

And what hurts me most
Is the silence I hear
Your laughter is like a ghost
The only sound is of falling tears

I don't know how long I've been here
And somehow I don't care
This place knows my deepest fears
I think it's called despair

The days, weeks, and months pass
And I don't know where to start
Each day is longer than the last
Each finds a new way to break my heart

And so I cry, I wait, and pray
With Death as my only friend
I know you'll come for me someday
My hero in the end
