I sat at my desktop, clicking frantically on the screen.
"No, Dan! Go the other way!" Phil squeaked as the words "Game Over" appeared on the screen.
"A little late with that advice, huh Phil?" I sighed, pretending to be annoyed with him. The corners of Phil's eyes crinkled up as he laughed. "Let me try." He said, taking the mouse. I didn't complain and pushed my chair back to give him some space.
"It's just some dumb minigame," I said as I noticed Phil nearly beating the game. I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of winning the game that I had chosen for us to compete.
"Ey, Dan?" Phil said suddenly.
I looked at him with an eyebrow raised. What's with the sudden change in tone?
"I saw some stuff on tumblr. On the phan tag." He admitted, looking away from me.
The hell is he getting at?
"I uh, I read some stories. Saw some comics." Phil pulled his knees up under his chin, putting his feet on the chair.
"Phil!" I yelled with a laugh, "why were you reading that trash?"
His face was becoming more red by the moment.
"Well, do you ever think that any of those are possible?" Phil asked.
"The fanfictions? Hell n- wait, Phil. Are you trying to tell me something?"
"I just thought why not give it a try, y'know?"
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Does this mean… Phil has feelings for me? I felt my heart beat faster and harder. I took a deep breath.
"Give what a try, Phil?" I figured that I knew what he meant, but part of me couldn't believe it. Part of me didn't want to believe it. Though a small part of me, one I didn't know existed, was glad he'd brought up the subject.
"Us." He said with a nervous chuckle, spinning slowly in his chair.
Throwing caution and all common sense out the window, I turned to him. "Okay, Phil; what do we do?"
"Just come here," He said, pursing his lips. He reached both arms out and grabbed my shoulders, pulling me and my chair closer to him. I crossed my legs and we were as close as the large computer chairs would allow. He leaned close, letting his nose brush against mine gently.
"Phil, I uh… I don't know about this." I said, closing my eyes.
He held both of my hands and kissed my cheek hard, nearly falling out of his chair as he did. It was weird, but everything just felt right.
"Just kiss me, Phil." I said, only partly serious.
But that's exactly what he did. His lips were warm and unexpectedly soft.
He pulled away quickly, looking at me shyly.
"Sorry," he stuttered, "was that too weird?"
"No."
"Shall we try again?"
I nodded and he kissed me again. I let myself relax this time, leaning into the kiss as I squeezed his hand. It wasn't like any of the girls I'd kissed before. This one was much different. There was something more to it. Something I hadn't realized I'd been missing this entire time. Love.
