Amelia blushes when Madam Pomfrey's cool hands touch her forehead. "How do you feel?" she softly murmurs.

"Sick." She wants to lean into the skilled hands but fears that would give away too much.

Madam Pomfrey takes out her wand and waves it around, muttering incantations. "I can't find anything wrong with you. Are you sure you're not sick because you have a test."

Amelia shakes her head. "Of course not."

Madam Pomfrey disbelievingly raises her eyebrows.

"I guess... I just wanted to spend some time with you."

Madam Pomfrey's smile is soft. "That's very sweet."

"Is it okay if I call you Poppy?" Amelia asks hopefully.

"I'm not sure that would be appropriate. Wait until you graduate in two years. Then my answer will be yes."

Two years. Amelia could so do that.

The two years passed very slowly, but Madam Pomfrey didn't mind Amelia's continue presence in her hospital wing, as long as she didn't fake illness.

A week after Amelia's graduation, she knew she had to make a decision. She already began her career within the Ministry of Magic, and she hoped to one day be the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

The decision she had to make involved Poppy Pomfrey. After being within the older woman's care for years, Amelia knew she was in love. And she was pretty sure the matron returned her feelings even if she would never admit it without Amelia's own admission.

Amelia needed to figure out if love was worth the heartache it would cause, though. Her family was extremely religious. Every night, they read a passage from the bible. They would never accept her being in love with a female, even if they could ignore the fact that she was so much older.

Her sister would accept it and do her best to support her, but Amelia knew she would be disowned by her parents.

It was her sister that made Amelia go after Poppy, though. She said the wisest words Amelia had ever heard. "If you love her, then go after her. Nothing is more important than love."

When Amelia showed up at the hospital wing, Poppy didn't seem surprised. She seemed even less surprised when Amelia's lips touched hers in a gentle kiss.

"This is wrong," Poppy muttered, eyes heated with fire as her fingers trailed down Amelia's cheek and to her neck.

"It might be wrong, but it feels so right," Amelia said before kissing Poppy once again.
