I'm sorry
I heard about the bad news today
Scott stared at the wall, the muffled sounds of a strained song coming from the stereo in the next room.
A crowd of people around you
Telling you it's ok
And everything happens for a reason
He snorted. Yea that's what everyone had been saying alright.
When you lose a part of your self
To somebody you know
It takes a lot to let go
Every breath that you remember
Pictures fade away but memory is forever
A tear trickled down his cheek as he stared at the framed picture of her on his desk.
An empty chair at all the tables
And I'll be seeing you when all my days boil down
But it's better where you're going anyway
More tears came, in a rapid succession.
I'm sorry
I heard about the bad news today
It's really hard to get through
Tough times and long days
But it really just depends on the season
He was sobbing in earnest now, and wasn't sure he'd be able to stop.
For now we'll say goodbye
We know it's not the last time
I've lost the best part of my day
He nodded in agreement with the song; she was the best part of his day.
But it's better where you're going anyway
This is the last thing
I will remember
It's better where you're going anyway
"It's better where you're going anyway." He repeated the last line of the song in a rasping whisper; he had been crying for what seemed like days now; his voice was long gone. He stared out the window, looking out at the grounds of the Institute. It really was going to be hard to get through.
Ok, smack me now cause I know it sucks... But... I just kind of had the urge to do it. Song fics are frickin' hard! But, anyhow, I was listening to A New Found Glory and this popped into my head. The song is called "Sonny".
Also, this can be in any of the incarnations of the X-Men. All that matters is the idea that Jean is dead and Scott is mourning her.
PS, I don't own the characters or the song.
