INTRO: This is going to be a series of short little drabble-oneshot things that will mainly be inspired by songs or specific words. The point of view will probably differ in each one. …If it's a hero you want, I can save you, just stay here please…
Cal knew he was going to die the moment he heard Chloe scream and look up the path to where John Wakefield stood calmly, brandishing a glinting boarding knife. Everything he'd ever known ended there.
All that mattered now was his heart, the one trembling beside him. Without thinking, Cal told her to run, and she ran to the bridge and started to scramble over the metal gate, sobbing.
My life for hers.
He turned and caught Chloe's arm. "I love you."
"What are you doing?" she screams out.
He heard her screaming and crying and his heart ripped again as he tried to defend himself against the inhuman monster attacking him.
Then, before he can do anything, it's over. He hears the snapping of his own bones and feels the warm blood in his throat.
He turned his head and tried to tell her to run, to get away, to not let his death be in vain. He tried to tell her he loved her more than anything. But all he can do is whisper her name as she screams his.
The last thing he sees is his angel's face, twisted in agony before he's flying.
Run, Chloe, darling, run and never look back.
…I feel like I've won…you're my key to survival…
