They sit on a hillside. There's nothing but grass all around, waving in the gentle breeze, flowers stretching towards the sun. Just the two of them, on a well-needed break. Teito sprawls over the ground and lifts his own head to the warm rays; beside him, Mikage props himself up on one elbow and smiles down at him.

"What?" Teito asks, blinking hard. Mikage blocks some of the light, but the sun is still too bright to gaze at. Mikage's grin grows, just a bit.

"Nothing." It's not an answer, and Teito scowls up at him, squinting.

"Whatever it is, out with it or stop hovering already."

"If you say so."

That's Teito's only warning before Mikage kisses him. And all Teito can think is oh.

He reacts by instinct, tilting his head to make that point of contact easier, the press of lips more firm. It's... nice. And then Mikage takes advantage of the new angle to slip his tongue inside, and Teito's breath hitches even as Mikage pulls away, his eyes fond.

"...What was that for?" Teito finally grumbles, glaring at the ground between them. He's fairly certain that he's blushing. Mikage flops back next to him.

"Dunno. I wanted to. You mad?"

"Idiot." Teito reaches over and punches him softly. But he's not.

Closing his eyes, Teito lets the kiss play over and over again in his head. He can kind of see, now, the appeal. If it's Miikage, warmth and light and the faint taste of summer and yakisoba. He wouldn't mind it, if Mikage kissed him again. He might even want it.

Blushing furiously, Teito opens his eyes and lifts them to the blue, blue sky, and wonders how to ask.
