Balance

Two extremes, each needing a dose of one another.

One immature, laid back and a safe place to tread.

One years older than chronological time, tightly wound and a danger if mistreated.

Both were had perfected some area's, thanks to these traits.

Other area's though, barley a clue they had about them, also because of these traits.

Although so different and apart in personality and character, they were the same in their thoughts.

Having seen the ways of the cruel side of the world, neither would let their souls be touched or shaken by another, in fear of the other soul being of the evil side.

….

Through childhood these thoughts instilled themselves into their brains, to stay their forever more until they tainted the heart.

….

Trials of mind, body and spirit also did no good to help them improve upon their opinions.

….

As they grew older and saw those they cared for fall under love's trap, they grew curious and started to explore for themselves.

….

Many years slid by with them trying to fall into the trap, but never taking the right approaches to it.

They were careful to love and never let it fully reach their souls and effect them fully.

….

Never letting themselves reach perfect balance.

….

They had grown tired and old of this nonsense that only left them aching for something real and more.

Something that only one other person could relate to.

Someone to balance them out.

….

Until one fateful night.

Everything confusing came to a halt.

A coincidental run into on the street led to an experimental companionship.

….

It stayed for years to come, even in their old age.

Not always lovers at times, not always friends.

But together none the less till the day it all ended.

….

Though it was on the night he was going to ask for her to "legally" be with her forever, the end stuck that night.

It was meant to end this way, they both realized, just because of their roots and everything they had known and experienced since they were children.

As they looked into each others dying eyes, they understood that at the old age of eighty-six, they had finally achieved balance.

Even if it was the end of their lives, they had finally felt it.

….

With each other.
