Title: Constellations and Inspirations
Author: KyuubiFoxLover
Pairing: KakaSaku
Takes place at about the time when Sasuke leaves.
Sakura's POV because I'm a girl, and find it a lot easier to write from a girl's point of view.
This is a birthday gift for the best KakaSaku fan, Tsukiko7. GO LOOK HER UP! -twitch-
Sakura shifted her hands behind her bubblegum pink hair. The blades of grass softly laid under her back, cushioning her. The night sky always entranced her with an unnatural charm. It was just so unreal, so far away, and yet so close. So beautiful. She made a habit of drawing in the skies. Tonight she traced her eyes along the endless black ceiling, connecting the stars one by one like she always did, joining them and bonding them together to create a large picture. That was what a constellation was, right? A bunch of shining stars together making something beautiful?
One star was shining radiantly, looking like it was working as hard as it could to break its limits. She could imagine the fire inside of the light bursting out to show its true potential. And yet, bright as it was, it was isolated, away from the others. Not being surrounded by the other lights, it made it seem so alone and much dimmer than she could see it really was. It lit up the patch of sky by itself, and only itself, holding up the weight of the sky. She smiled as a similar boy ran through her mind.
Another star was a good distance away from the lonely glow. It, too, was very powerful and shining, but it had more of a glaring light… one she recognized instantly. It was a bit dimmer as surreal, nighttime clouds passed over it. It just seemed to be getting farther and farther away from her as she innocently sat there below it. She lifted her arm limply and reached gently for the star before it disappeared behind the dark, purple haze. Once it was gone, she dropped her arm down and closed her eyes.
"But where do I fit in…?" Sakura sighed to herself, answered, for a time, only by the crickets.
"There," a voice spoke calmly. Sakura shot her eyes open and spun around to see her sensei. He was looking at the sky, his exposed eye fixed on a single spot.
"That one, right there," he spoke, as he started to take slow, even steps towards her. He sat down next to her and took her hand, closing his fingers around hers. She let him lift her hand in his, both of their arms raised towards the sky. He outstretched his pointer finger at a single star shining brightly in the midst of the endless darkness. "Do you see it?" She nodded quickly and breathlessly, eyes glued to it. "That's you, Sakura. The one keeping all of the other stars fighting and bright. The inspiration for the others."
She turned a light shade of pink as he slowly dropped her hand to the comforting grass and stood up. She lowered her head and wrapped her arms around her legs.
"So… that's what I am…? I'm just an inspiration…?" She spoke, misery filling every corner of her voice.
"On the contrary," he spoke, causing her to look up at him confusedly, "Without that star, the others would be nothing. That's what a constellation is, correct? A bunch of stars grouped together making something beautiful? Well…" He took a pause here,
"…I see a flower."
If you can, please review! This is my first time writing any kind of KakaSaku, so I wan't to know if it's good or not.
