Work on Your Jump Shot
By Jarhead(jarhead_h@yahoo.com)
Your ball needs air.
I knew that ball would go into the net before it left my hands. So did Mark.
He's not coming back. I will probably never see Dr. Mark Greene alive again. It's how he wants it. He didn't make a big scene.
No teary goodbyes, or struggling for words. Work on your jump shot is probably the last thing he will ever say to me. But then…
he doesn't need to say anything else.
Everything he needed to tell me, he's already said. He's handed me every lesson he had to give.
Dr. Benton taught me how to treat the vast array of diseases and injuries we run into. But it was Dr. Greene that taught me how to
treat the patient. That was always his most valuable lesson, and I'm glad one more young doctor was able to learn it from him today.
Somehow, it fits that his last day was spent teaching a cocky SOB a little humility. And he's still working? Yeah Pratt, that's one
of the lesser reasons why he'll be legendary around here long after we're gone.
And just a second ago he passed me the ball.
You set the tone Carter. He trusts me to take over for him. This place is my responsibility now. Weaver may outrank me, but I'm
the one he expects to carry on for him.
I'll be damned before I let him down.
