Disclaimer: I don't own YYH or the characters

Hey, everyone! So, this is actually the first chapter of a drabble series I started on DeviantArt through the YuYuHakusho-Fanclub. I post it there monthly and then, forty-eight hours later, I post it here. If you want to see the amazing art by the wonderful Rhea Samara that goes along with this drabble (AKA GoodEnoughTheOpenDoor on fanfiction), you can search her on DeviantArt. She takes commissions. You can also search Firestorm1991 to get early access to this drabble series and check out the YuYuHakusho-Fanclub. We're a lively bunch :D

A Day in a Life: Spirit World Edition, File #1

~Traffic Jam~

It all started when the boys received another case from Spirit World. They were to investigate strange happenings occurring in another city. Anomalies had been occurring ever since the three worlds adjoined. So Kurama had borrowed his mother's car, himself, Kuwabara, and Yusuke informing their mothers and Shizuru that they were leaving for a "guy's weekend." They dragged a reluctant Hiei along. The drive was easy and simple for the majority of the ride, but then the unthinkable happened.

They were stuck in traffic.

Always the positive one among the group, Kuwabara had stated that it probably wouldn't last very long. He was proven incorrect when it became dead-stopped. The traffic wouldn't have been so bad if not for the easily irritated fire demon sitting in the backseat. He was ready to kill.

"Hiei, stop!" Kuwabara exclaimed when the demon readied a flame in his hand. "You can't blow up other cars like that."

"We're going to be here a while," Kurama observed, smiling politely. "Perhaps you two could keep Hiei occupied."

"I'm not a child, Kurama," Hiei growled. "I do not need to be coddled."

"Whatever," Yusuke replied. "If anything, it'll help the boredom. We could play the license plate game. Hiei, you start."

"I have no time for trivial games," Hiei responded, not really wanting to admit he had no idea what kind of game the detective was talking about. He figured that he would be able to figure out the rules on his own. Looking out the window, he saw words on the back of the car. That was a license plate, right?

He figured the game had something to do with the random letters and numbers written on the plate. Maybe, the point of the game was to turn them into words. Some were already. He noticed one large car with a plate that read THEVINNIE. He mentally scoffed. That human sure thought a lot of himself. Then he read one he couldn't quite make out, IMW-STPD. He turned to the others and pointed. The words that left his mouth made everyone in the car gape at him in shock and laugh or chuckle. "I'm with stupid."

"No, Hiei," Yusuke chortled with mirth. "That's not how the game goes at all." Hiei's brow quirked upwards. "It's supposed to be a guessing game to where people came from based on their license plate pictures."

The fire demon's eyes narrowed. Wryly, he stated, "Humans play games where they stalk other humans, and we're depraved?"

"Think of it as utilizing our detective skills," Yusuke suggested.

Under his breath, Kuwabara made a scathing comment, mocking his Mazoku friend. "Yeah, 'cause we all know how you utilize those…"

Yusuke heard it, and he glared at his friend. "Oh yeah? You wanna go? I have no problem kicking your ass in this car."

A small struggle started in the backseat, Hiei getting jostled, caught up in the juvenile behavior. "You both better stop this instant or I'll incinerate the both of you!" he hissed maliciously.

Meanwhile, in the front, Kurama couldn't help but chuckle, seeming very amused as he closed his eyes and forced a smile. In actuality, inside his thousand-year-old head, he was thinking, I'm surrounded by children.
