A super-short Valentine's day-themed story (not like there aren't already a billion of them…)

This fic assumes Ed and Roy are together and have been for awhile.

Ring…ring…ring…rig-click

"Mustang here"

"Why aren't you out of there yet?"

It was Edward. It was Valentines day. They had plans; plans which Roy was late for. And, surprisingly, his young lover had called calmly, concerned, somewhat disappointed, but no yelling…so far.

"I got held up. This paperwork has to get done. And Riza will kill me if I don't get this done before tomorrow. But I'm leaving within 10 minutes."

"You better be, Colonel Bastard."

And with that, Ed hung up. 'That sounds more like the Edward I know' Roy thought as he smiled softly to himself.

Mustang had his paperwork finished (and left in a messy disarray on his desk) in under 10 minutes, as promised. He shrugged his coat on and left the office.

As soon as he exited the building, he saw a certain someone's signature red coat. Ed was standing across the street, presumably waiting for his lover, hunched over slightly against the February wind. He looked up as Roy jogged across the street.

"Edward?"

"Hey. Got tired of waiting for you. Thought I'd meet you here."

Roy gave him a small smile. "I'm sorry I'm late. You look a little cold."

Predictably, the use of the word "little" in conjunction with Edward set the height-challenged alchemist off.

"Who are you calling so small that he would freeze to death and get trampled by a….mmph!"

Roy leaned in and kissed Ed, effectively cutting off his outburst.

Roy was the first to speak after their lips broke contact. "Happy Valentine's Day", he murmured into Ed's hair.

"mmm. You too. Let's go home and celebrate," responded a newly-sated Edward with a mischievous grin.

Roy raised an eyebrow as an excited Ed pulled him by the hand in the direction of home.

I know this is OOC from the series, kinda fluffy, and quite horrible. I wrote it during a particularly boring class lecture. Stupid graduation requirements!!
