What if Rachel had chosen Bruce - despite his Batman persona - instead of Harvey, before she died? How would have some scenes and circumstances changed?
LETTER TO BRUCE
My Dearest Bruce,
I don't know where to begin, but I know that I need to be honest and clear. Harvey Dent has asked me to marry him. I didn't give him an answer yet because I didn't really
have an answer. But now I do and I cannot hide it any longer. When I told you that if Gotham no longer needed Batman we could be together, I meant it. But now I'm sure the
day won't come when "you" will no longer need Batman. That is why I am not going to wait any more than I just did, and so I am going to refuse Harvey's proposal. Whether
Batman will always be there or will someday be finished doesn't matter anymore. Truthfully, it never did, it just took me a while to realize this. I love you and I want to spend
the rest of my life with you. Hopefully, when you read this, the time would be right. And if it is, come to me and I will be there waiting for you. In case anything happens to
me, please keep your faith in this city and in its people. They need you right now more than ever, even if they do not realize this at the moment. And a day will come when
you will no longer be known just as a vigilante, but as a hero. A hero that will save Gotham from its misery. A true hero that Gotham needs and deserves. A Dark Knight. With
