Hi! Phantom-chan here! This little one-shot was a random idea I had, but that I rather liked. It's probably not that well written, but I hope you enjoy it! Without further ado...

That Mirajane Strauss

If there was one person in Fiore that Freed could say he was truly scared of, he'd probably say Mirajane Strauss.

Now of course there's Laxus, but then again, he also adored Laxus. Laxus was a big softie about some things, and he pushed for a dangerous exterior. So when you really got close to him, he didn't seem so scary. It never really occurred to Freed that he could ever be truly afraid of Laxus.

But Mirajane. Damn.

One thing that terrified him about her was how nice she was. Sure there was the, "she's so nice and trusting she's bound to get hurt" fear he had, but that wasn't all. Her bubbly sweetness was like a cover, hiding the demon beneath. And how could she be so nice to him after what he had done to her brother?

Forget forgiveness, how can she possibly be that nice?

Another thing that scared him about her was her knack for matchmaking. He never got involved, but her plans ended up with someone getting hurt in general. Like when she tried to bring Elfman and Evergreen closer, but Elfman called Ever a man. Everyone else had sighed, but Mira had grabbed him by the ear, scolded sense into him, and made him do all the guild chores for a week. Anyone with that kind of power has got to be terrifying.

She had an eye for putting people together, like some kind of messed up equation...but she tended to be right...

And then there was Freed's fear of girls in...skimpy clothing...like bathing suits and such... He wasn't going to admit it, but he knew that the fear partially came from Mira. She was beyond sexy, and her constant being in Sorcerer Weekly in all sorts of outfits didn't exactly disprove that. It freaked him out, quite frankly, and it made him woozy.

But if course, who could forget? Anyone not scared by the above...well, they must be mental if they aren't drop-dead-terrified of her Satan Soul. Damned hell is all Freed had to say for it. Even her weakest form could demolish a city in a minute. Her attacks were so powerful, it was like hell itself destroying you. Freed had even yet to see her most powerful form...it was said she could demolish a city in a nanosecond. And honestly? Freed was not planning to test this theory out.

But maybe what scared him the most was how amazing she is. She'd do anything to protect those she cares about. She go to the ends of Earthland to make her friends and family happy. She'd level a country to make room for the ones she loves. She'd go to such lengths to make people happy...it was scary. Like she was a goddess sent to make the world a better place. Freed was scared by this. How can anyone have that much power?

To make everyone so...happy?

Last...Freed would find himself scared of the way he felt about her. He wasn't entirely sure of how he felt...maybe as family, maybe a friend, maybe a girlfriend. He wasn't sure, and that scared him. He couldn't interpret her, or his feelings like he could interpret runes. Sometimes he wondered if Laxus liked her, and Freed could never take her away from him if he did.

But he did find her smile brightening his day every so often, or her sweet compliments making him feel happy. He loved seeing her demolish Fairy Tail's enemies like she was fighting dust. He loved to see her with her family, with the guildmates, and even sometimes, he'd love to find her talking with him.

And Freed knew, that in his terror, he truly cared about that Mirajane Strauss.
