Rock Lee and Me

Chapter One

All the world's asleep for the evening. The sun has set and the night chill has set in. At least that was the case in California. In Konaha, however, it is a different story.

In Konaha it is just a little past noon, and team Gai is lounging around with nothing to do. Gai-sensei was off getting the team their next mission and was do back any second.

"What is taking Gai-sensei so long?"

An impatient young Lee was pacing around the training area.

"Calm down Lee I'm sure he'll be back soon." A slightly irritated Tenten, shouted for what seemed to be the hundredth time.

She and Neji sat side by side under a tree waiting patiently for their sensei to return. Which he promptly did. Appearing in a puff of smoke. His three students stood before him waiting for orders.

"Lord Hokage has granted us the joy and honor of going on this wondrous mission!" He struck his good guy pose, teeth sparkle and all. "We are to go into the forest surrounding this village to scout for any suspicious things!"

The team nodded and dashed off, Gai right behind them.

"Do you know if we're looking for anything in particular?" Tenten asked no one specific.

Gai as is in his nature popped out of nowhere to answer her query.

"The Hokage mentioned that strange lights have been appearing at random throughout the forest. And of course we're just the team to figure it all out!"

Gai gave his signature smile before bounding ahead to catch up with his star pupil.

It was starting to get late. They had been searching for a good while now. Many hours had slipped by, Team Gai hadn't found a thing.

The group stopped in a clearing for a short break. They all sat their heads hung in disappointment.

"Well looks like we shall have to call it a day!" said a still smiling Gai-sensei.

His students nodded in agreement and stood ready for their departure. As they were turning to leave, they heard a strange crackling sound. It swelled up and filled all their sense, it was so loud nothing else could be heard. The group whipped around to see a vortex of glowing blue light. Many shades and hues swirled around in a never-ending cycle. It looked solid and yet no. It was blindingly bright, yet they could still see so clearly. It was definitely the strangest thing any of them had ever seen.

They stood there in awe. Not sure if it was to move, or even blink. Lee was the first to pull himself together, at least a little. He slowly inched towards the mass of light, his hand outstretched. His fingers barely brushed the surface, before he and the light had disappeared with a pop.

The people remaining blinked as they came out of their stupor. Only to find absolute silence and a missing Lee.
