CHECKING IN

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

Takes place directly after "Looking For A Lifeline" and "A Chance To Forgive" cause I feel like there should've been a Boden/Casey scene for this ep. Belongs to Dick Wolf and NBC. I own nothing. Not related to "Clearing The Air".

Casey was finishing up a report when there was a knock at his door.

"Come in," he called, looking up. The door opened and Boden walked in.

"You doing okay?" the man queried. Worried about him, he thought. Some things had been brought back for him, he could see it in his eyes. Now he just had to make sure that he didn't shy away from everybody.

"Yeah…why wouldn't I be?" came the response. Haven't thought about Dad in a long time. Not since Mom told me why she shot him, he mused.

"Because I know that this brought back bad memories for you," the chief stated.

"I'm okay, Chief. Promise," he assured. Don't want him worrying about me. I dealt with it a long time ago, he mused.

"All right. But if you ever need to talk-" Boden began to say.

"The door's open, I know," Casey interrupted. Glad to know that I can still come to him even though I'm Captain now, he thought.

"Good," Boden stated. "Well, I'll let you get back to what you were doing," he told him.

"Thanks," the captain stated. His boss nodded and started to walk out. "Chief?" Boden turned to him. "Thanks…for checking in."

"Always." With that, he left, closing the door behind him. Casey's rank may have changed, but that didn't mean that he was going to stop looking out for him. No, if he ever needed to talk, he'd be there for him just like he always had been.
