Disclaimer: I don't own Tale of Two Cities
Months passed slowly in the Defarge home after the death of their son as it did before his birth after the death of his sister.
"I know it hurts darling," Ernest said, "But he is with his sister now. She is no longer lonely"
"I suppose," Therese said, "But I cannot stop my grief"
"One day you will," he said then kissed her goodnight.
The next day Ernest himself was dead
"I've loved once," she said to herself, "I've loved twice. I loved three times. I can love no more"
