It was Kari 13th birthday. Her family, and a collection friends, along
with their Digimon were there with her to celebrate. Gatomon handed her a
gift. The others looked at each other and then looked at Gatomon and Kari.
"I bet it's a dead mouse", joked Tai. Gatomon looked hurt.
"Don't listen to him Gatomon. He's just being a jerk.", Kari reassured her.
Kari opened the box and saw something she hadn't seen in five years. It was the whistle that she gave Gatomon as a goodbye present when she was leaving the Digiworld.
"I finally found it. It was in a cave.", said Gatomon.
"You mean you've traveled between worlds?", asked Tai. "It's not very hard for us Digimon", said Gatomon.
Tai just shrugged.
"Well anyways, here ya go, sis."
He handed Kari his present and she opened it. It was pocket knife.
"Alright a weapon!"
She saw everyone staring at her.
"Calm down! I mean it's a useful tool and it's sure to come in handy! Gimme a break!"
"Sure thing", said TK, handing Kari yet another present.
This one wasn't wrapped. It was a backpack.
"What the heck? Is she going on an adventure or something? What's with all this camping equipment", Joe asked confused.
"We just feel like it. Why do you care? Did you buy her anything?", said Matt.
"No, I didn't have time.", Joe said looking dismayed.
"That's alright! I'm glad you're here nonetheless.", said Kari. "Also, it's great that we know you're alive which is more that we can say for some people."
Everybody laughed as they turned and spotted Izzy in the corner working on his computer as usual.
"Keep it down. I'm busy fixing my files after getting hit by that virus.", said Izzy.
"Why did we even invite him? He's just taking up space and he's not even here mentally", said Tai. "And what's worse, we get less cake."
"Nevermind, you can have my share. I don't wanna get crumbs in the keyboard.", Izzy replied.
Everybody laughed again. Izzy was such a trip. Once he got in front of a computer he wouldn't have moved if a volcano erupted right next to him. They continued enjoying themselves throughout the day and soon the guests left. It was now evening and Tai and the parents were taking care of cleaning stuff up. Kari got to be lazy since it was her birthday. She puts her whistle around her neck and notices that she needs a longer string now. "Meh. I'll get around to it soon. Thanks for finding it for me, Gato."
Her sentence is interrupted when she sees a dark figure holding Gatomon.
"PUT HER DOWN!"
"Make me.", the mysterious intruder said in a menacing voice. "You want her back, come to the world of Correleta alone and get her."
He disappeared. Kari went downstairs and explained the situation to her family.
"And you're setting off on your own? No way!", said Tai
"It's too dangerous! What if you got sick?!", said their mom.
"It's out of the question. We'll just get you another cat and we still have Niko.", said their dad.
"You don't understand! What if it was Agumon, Tai?!"
"It wouldn't be Agumon! Because Agumon is too smart!"
Kari was outraged. She stormed out of the door.
"I'm a teenager now and can take care of myself! I'm not a sickly little kid anymore!"
She quickly packed for her journey and set off to find the portal to Correleta.
