chapter 1-how I became a god

after I had defeated gaia and burned her the earth started to destabilise, gaia no longer had the power to keep the raw power of the earth in check and the mist started to part. The fates revealed by prophecy to the gods that they must elect a new deity to take the title of Gaia and keep the earth in balance. And who better to pick than me, their go to guy, Percy jackson.

i approached the throne room a bubbling mass of excitement and dread about what it would feel like to be a god... immortal and undying. I would be well... godly. The marble door opened in front of me by themselves as the throne room came into view, all the gods on their thrones, some excited(Aphrodite) and some angry(Athena).

"Perseus Jackson,hero and saviour of Olympus and the gods, bane of Kronos and Gaia. We welcome you to the throne room of Olympus"thundered Zeus(thundered...ha.. )

i walked to the middle of the room and bowed to the three eldest gods. Hades with a glint in his eyes, Poseidon looking like a father would reading a report card that was all A++. Zeus looked annoyed about having one of poseidons children on the Olympian council and him being on the same general power level as a primordial.

"do you Perseus Jackson, hero of Olympus, et cetera, et cetera. Accept our proposal and agree to become a god."

i thought about my life so far, running from monsters, going on quests and seeing my friends die. I could be free

"yes my lord Zeus"I replied.

they all began chanting Ancient Greek and I felt like I would on a rollercoaster. It stopped and I felt slightly more aware and strong.

"that wasn't as bad as I thought it would b-ahhhhhh"the pain was worse than my dip in the styx. My entire genetic code was being rewritten transforming. I blacked out then.

(2 hours later)

"it shouldn't take this long should it?"said Zeus boredly.

"not long now-I feel him waking"said apollo who was apparently using some godly healing ability to monitor my body.

"whoa, this feels weird"I said, I felt like a god. I felt like I could move mountains and tame seas, I could topple well...gods.

the fates appeared suddenly and everyone, including Zeus, bowed. They looked fondly at me and announced"all hail Perseus Jackson, sovereign god of The earth" they said "hail"repeated the gods. I looked around shocked before Zeus explained"the fates must approve of any new major gods being made" I nodded and bowed my thanks to the fates. They smiled and flashed out.

"Perseus Jackson, we now need to decide your roles and sacred animal" said Zeus. I thought before saying"could my sacred animal be a snake" they pondered, muttering about the Egyptians not liking it and Athena said something about it being fitting that I was a snake before"yes that is possible young Demi-ahh I mean young god. Your role will be to keep the earth stable and we would like to welcome you to the Olympian council" said Zeus. "I would love to if hades and hestia were also included"I replied. Hades looked shocked before grudgingly smiling at me. Zeus replied hesitantly" yes it will be so" "you will also be camp director but you do not have to stay there as this is not a punishment. I'm sure you want to see your friends, meeting dismissed"
