With the Ebbing Tide
It was a beautiful new day in Orothe, the sun shining through and reflecting off the deep, dark blue water. Shax liked it that way. But, as all beautiful mornings, they come and go in the blink of an eye. Most things did, at that. Especially when you're a hyren. Those humans are so lucky, Shax thought, to them, a day leads to a month, a month to a year, to decades, and then that was it. Us hyrens don't get to appreciate each day because we live so many of them. Shax and most of her friends had outlived almost 27 generations of kings, and were still considered "middle-age" by hyren standards. She then entered the magi realm in a flash of white dream energy. Protection duty at Orkla today. Better get going.
As she slowly swam to Orkla, the city of the Water King, she felt a rumbling in the water. As the shockwave spread from its source, Shax swam closer. When she entered Orkla, she was confronted with complete chaos. While the Orotheans swam for their lives, Shax wondered where it was coming from and why, so she went to investigate. What could it be? This is the worst quake in over a century! Something more than plate collisions must be happening, but what? What could possibly be causing this much damage? She rounded the first cliff, and was simply dumbfounded by what she saw. There, standing right in the middle of Orathan Crag, was a humongous, pitch-black geyser. Now, Shax had seen a lot of oil geysers, but they were nothing next to this monstrosity. Then again, Shax wasn't even sure this was an oil geyser. And now that she thought about it, she realized it most definitely wasn't. But unless those ancient legends are true... THEY COULDNT BE!!! It was just some old fools ramblings! But with each passing second, Shax realized that it was the only possible explanation. I must go to the high council. With that thought, she jetted off to the Neryh Crag.
Once there, Shax spoke to Laroc, the king Orothe Hyren. "The prophecies have come true," said Shax, "a Shadow Geyser has appeared in Orathan Crag, your highness. I feel we must gather our warriors to enter the Geyser."
