Life Never-Ending

Chapter 1: In Loving Memory

"Sometimes I wonder Magnus…will I ever be able to stop feeling this way?"

The Warlock merely looked at her, not comprehending her meaning. She continued " I can't stop missing them, all of the them" tears forming in her eyes. Magnus, finally understand to whom she was referring to, clasped her hand into his "Tessa, look at me" Magnus took her hand into his "You can never forget them, but you can remember the good times you had together." He stood up and walked towards the small and extremely old wooden box on top of the mantle. "Do you remember this? Remember when we got it?" Tessa nodded, getting up and walking towards it and him. From the box, he took out a small jade pendant and a small copy of A Tale of Two Cities.

"Magnus…" Tessa felt more tears stream down her face as the memories of these objects and their owners rushed back to her. "Please…it only makes it hurt more. They've been gone for so long. Looking at these only makes it worse. Knowing that they are dead; and that I'll never be able to join them." Tessa sank back into a chair curling into a ball clutching the book and pendant close to her heart.

Magnus stayed where he was, looking in the empty box in silence. Feeling exactly as she was, but with more experience at hiding it, he took a shuddering deep breath as he went to her. She had stopped crying out of sheer exhaustion and was now just looking at the objects she held so dear. "It will never be easy, I won't lie to you and say that you will ever be fully over them…but it is easier on the heart for us to remember them as they would've wanted us to. Do you honestly think Jem or Will would want to be responsible for you in tears? What do you think their reactions would be, hmm?" he asked her as he brushed a tear from her face.

Tessa smiled sadly at the thought. "Jem would most likely apologize profusely in Chinese and Will would find a way to sarcastically make me smile. Magnus, I miss them each so much."

Magnus looked at her, his Golden feline eyes full of love and sorrow. He held her hands in his and sat there, next to her as she finally succumbed to her exhaustion from crying so hard, still clutching the book and pendant. "You deserve happiness Tessa, for all you have suffered. Im sure that both of them would've wanted you to remember them fondly, but still want you to be happy. To be with someone who could make you smile, to make you laugh, who could share your feelings, share your memories, with someone who could never leave and cause you such agony." He quickly looked away as he realized what he had left unsaid at the end of that: "Someone like me." He couldn't believe himself, he was ashamed at his feelings, but he could not help them. It had been years since all of their friends had passed away, and he and Tessa had remained. They had grown quite close, but never intimately. Never had even considered it until his sudden realization of his feelings for her. "But is it wrong of me" he thought to himself. "Oh Tessa, what should I do?" he said quietly to her sleeping figure.
