The Begining
"Are you sure we are going the right way?" shouted Merrick. He was sure the camp was in the other direction. It was getting hard to tell which was was which. The sun was sinking low over the horizon, and the shadows of the immense trees surrounding him did little to help.
"Of course!" Merrick, startled, dropped the young doe he had been carrying. Severn, his life long friend, dropped down in front of his face. He was hanging upside-down, his legs hooked around a sturdy branch. His golden eyes gleamed as he eyed the fallen doe.
"Oh no you don't!" said Merrick, "You already drank four! This one is for everyone else back at camp!" He shouldered the doe as Severn Dropped down to the ground. "If you are so hungry, go drink a rabbit." he added.
"Rabbit does not taste as good as doe." replied Severn, making a face. Merrick growled. "Why are vampires so picky!" Severn apperared unaffected by the comment, ocupied as he was with something else.
"What is it?" asked Merrick. Severns face lit up. "Deer!" he exclaimed, and bolted off. Merrick was left alone amoung the trees, furious.
"Severn!" he shouted, "Wait for me!" and with that he ran into the heart of the woods in search of the vampire, grumbling to himself all the way.
It was wuite some time before Merrick finally found Severn. He was crouched in a clearing, defending the half draned body of a young buck. The sun had gone by this time, and it was extreamly hard for Merrick to see anything. From what he could make out, there was someone else with Severn. He heard hissing, and threats. Obviously, the fight was over the buck. It must be another vampire.
'Oh, great,' thought Merrick, 'another one.' Despite his feelings toward the possibility of having to know another vampire, Merrick was worried about Severn. 'At least vampires are nocturnal,' Merrick thought.
Merrick settled behind a bush to watch. Neither vampire would immediately notice him there. He also had an excelent, if not fuzzy, veiw of the clearing, meaning Merrick could step in and help Severn if needed.
"All right." he wispered to himself. "let's see whats going on."
I'd like to see at least two reviews before I post the next part of this. My friend and I actuialy wrote several small books for say of this a couple of years ago so I have several chapters written. Just waiting to be rewritten on the computer. So the more reviews the faster ill think about typing this up and posting it.
