Okay, so, to tell the truth, I have no idea where this came from. I also don't know if New York has ferryboats or not, I'm an Australian that's never been overseas. And I don't know if this has been done, or if it's good or not, or if any of this stuff isn't right. No, I don't know a lot. But what I do know is that is just drabble and rambling. Anyway, read and see what you think. Set around the start of season 2 when Derek chose Addison.

Disclaimer: No, I don't own Grey's Anatomy. I'd love to, but I don't. I just borrow the characters for my own entertainment, sometimes.

Ferryboats

Derek loved ferryboats; he had a thing for them.

He never actually knew why he had a thing for them, he just did. They were so mesmerizing to watch glide through the grey water. Sort of like Meredith's eyes. Grey and mesmerizing.

No.

He couldn't think about Meredith's eyes. Or Meredith at all. Anyway, he had a thing for ferryboats before he met Meredith.

He had a wife. A wife that he loved, and was happy with.

Trying to be happy with, he thought bitterly.

Trying was the key word.

You couldn't try again with your wife (that cheated on you with your best friend) and just be happy.

You had to try.

Try to love her like he loved Meredith.

With Meredith it just came, he didn't have to try.

Again with Meredith. He had to block her out of his thoughts.

A wife, he reminded himself, a wife that you love.

Loved.

No, love.

He could always move back to Manhattan with Addison, just pack up and leave. They could move to New York and forget that the past few months of their lives ever happened. They could be happy and in love again.

But New York didn't have ferryboats.

So he couldn't leave Seattle, it had ferryboats.

It also had Meredith.

End.

What did you think? Review! Umm. Yeah. Tell me what you thought. x
