How many people have you met in your life that go straight to your heart and stay there the rest of your life?
When something wonderful and exciting happens, they are the first person you want to tell. When the world comes crushing in around you, they are the one you want to have beside you.
Someone to share your dreams with, knowing they will not laugh at you when others would make fun or try to hold you back.
They can make you laugh 'till you both get a little silly and cry with you when you need the healing of tears. They know your thoughts without you even speaking them. A glance across a crowded room — no words are needed — the eyes say it all.
Someone who loves you unconditionally, despite all your faults. They will watch and listen to you make a fool of yourself but defend your right to do so with all of their heart.
They love and respect you enough to tell you when they don't agree with you and give you a swift kick in the behind when it is needed.
In their eyes you can see the mirror of your hopes and dreams, your accomplishments and failures, but also a look telling you to take time to rethink a plan and a soft voice calling you back when you lose touch with reality.
Few people are lucky enough to find that special someone. It is truly a gift.
So why do we never appreciate what we had, and shared, and loved, until it is gone? And what would we give to hold them once more to tell them what is in our hearts?
Thank you for loving me, my beloved Hephaestion.
I wish you were still here to tell me how to survive without you.
