Today was the day.

Dawn was going to confess her feelings for Paul after keeping them bottled up for two years! Granted, she knew Paul wasn't the kind to bother with romance unless he really was interested, but…maybe he secretly adored her and just didn't have the courage to confess! That's so sweet! She thought to herself.

Dawn knew Paul liked to hang around the department store in Veilstone City, especially up on the top floor. The thought of them confessing to each other with the beautiful city view down below was so romantic it made her giddy. So she went up there, and stood waiting.

She had her pink dress on, the one she wore for contests, and her hair was in a high ponytail. Perfect. She had a homemade bento box, the way to a boy's heart is through his stomach, right? Also perfect. And just to top it all off, in case Paul wasn't impressed by her food or her dress, she had written a poem expressing her innermost feelings for him! There was absolutely no way he could reject her!

All morning she stood at one corner of the top floor, and she was just starting to lose hope when she noticed the purple haired object of her affections exit the lift. The time was now! She skipped happily over to him, and dragged her rather confused and angry crush to the window, before letting him go a short distance away from her.

"What the hell do you want, crazy girl?!" Paul demanded to know, his voice venomous as ever.

Dawn was somewhat offended that he still didn't know her name, but just for today, she let it side. She shifted her feet, all cutesy-like, and gazed deep into his eyes. "Paul…I" she trailed off, in an attempt to seem shy. "I'm deeply in love with you."

The boy shrugged, before replying with, "I'm already taken."

Taken? With who? Dawn had no idea who he was dating, but she wasn't about to give up just yet. She'd just have to make him see she was better for him! Time for phase two!

"I…I made this bento just for you," she said softly, holding out the box. He'd taste the love in every bite of her delicious food!

"What is this, some kind of shoujo anime?!" Paul remarked. "You think you can win me over with food?!"

Dawn was faltering now. Looks like he really wouldn't give her a chance. So this last plan had to work…

"And I wrote you this poem, too. Would your girlfriend ever do that for you?" she asked earnestly, the last glimmers of hope fading from her eyes. She recited her poem quietly.

"That was pathetic. And who said I had a girlfriend, anyway?" he said bluntly.

Just then, as if on cue, a red-headed boy popped out of the lift.

"Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to continue shopping with my boyfriend," Paul said, walking over to the redhead and pinning him against the wall with a passionate kiss.

That couldn't have gone much worse, Dawn thought sadly as she made her way to the lift. Oh, well. Wonder if Ash is available…

Alright, that's my first, and probably my last fic starring Dawn. It's cheesy, I know, but I felt like writing an easy read for now. See you later~
