Ode to my PB & J

Sweet Heart picked up the knife, and dipped it into the jar of peanut butter. "Who else wants crunchy," she asked.

"Oh, I do! I do!" Clover waved her empty paper plate in the air above her head as she jumped up and down gleefully. "I love crunchy," she said.

Sweet Heart handed her the peanut butter jar and knife. Clover took out two pieces of bread and laid them apart on the plate.

"I'd like the smooth," said Patch.

The sandwiches the little ponies would be having with their tea at their afternoon meeting were going to be just wonderful. Every pony had her choice of crunchy or smooth peanut butter, and either grape or strawberry jelly. Except for Starlight. She preferred her sandwich with the rich taste of honey.

"Is everyone ready to start the meeting?" Bright Eyes clanked her spoon gently against the tea cup as the rest of the ponies seated themselves around the table.

"Ok. I'll open the floor for anyone who thinks there is any old business that we need to settle first."

"The club house needs to be painted," Starlight spoke up.

"I think we have that scheduled at the next meeting," Sweet Heart said as she flipped through a notebook of club recordings.

"Alright then. The floor is now officially open for new business."

"Oh. Oh. Oh." Melody raised her hand (hoof) while nearly jumping out of her chair.

"Are you trying to imitate a monkey in the zoo, or would you like to speak?"

"I'd like to speak," said Melody. "I'd first like to think Bon Bon for bringing all the sandwich stuff to the meeting."

Everyone clapped their hands in agreement.

"Now it is in her honor that I'd like to introduce my latest song that I just made up." To all the little ponies' hushed astonishment, she jumped up on the table.

"I think I'll call it…

Ode to my PB&J

There's peanut butter & there's jelly.

It goes down in my belly.

Made especially for me by my Aunt Nellie;

She works at a Deli.

She has two kids;

Their names are Shelly and Kelly.

One likes bread with her butter, and the other likes toast with her jelly.

Wow! This poem's gett'n smelly.

My Ode to my sandwich made of peanut butter and jelly.

Starlight, Sweet Heart, Bright Eyes, Patch, and Clover all stared in silence. No one really knew what to say. Melody had never shown any interests in rap music before.

Finely Patch said, "Wow, Melody. That is sure an interesting new song." Everyone else nodded in agreement.

"It's the new me," Melody exclaimed happily.

"I was board over the weekend when everyone was out of town. Well, except for Clover, but she was sick. So I just happened to turn on the TV to the MTV channel. Snoop Dogg was on singing his song "Drop It Like It's Hot."

All the little ponies looked at each other, and then back at the over enthusiastic Melody who was happily spinning and dancing about the club house.

"I'm going to be a rapper," she yelled.

Stunned silence filled the room.
