A.N2 AU/OOC/Female Sam
Samantha Witwicky was dragged into the war against the Decepticons whether she liked it or not. She wanted the Decepticons gone. Samantha ended up going to Stanford University to eventually become a Physician's Assistant. She also chose the Navy much to the horror of all of the soldiers and Epps who knew her. Will put in a request for Samantha because a PA is needed at Diego Garcia even if said PA is a squid.
Samantha was warned that she will be given holy hell for choosing the Navy and she will never be forgiven for it. Samantha reported in while the others were out facing some Decepticons and she was seeing patients back on the base. When they arrived back, Will and Epps could not find Samantha putt found Bumblebee.
"Bumblebee, where's Sam?"
Bumblebee used his radio system. "Seeing patients"
Then the two heard it. "You bloody Yankee! I swear you medical people live to torture."
Samantha responded back. "Well if you came and had gotten stitches the proper way, you would not have an infection. I am going to have to go in and put a drainage tube to get the infection out. You will have the drainage tube in for a few days then I will close it back up. Your ass is on antibiotics."
Will and Epps saw Samantha work on Sergeant Wallis who is part of SAS for Ireland. Then Will saw the man's leg, it is infected.
"Sam, what the hell happened?"
"Einstein over here thought he would save himself the aggravation of seeing any medic, doctor, or even someone like me to close a wound that requires stitches with ordinary needle and thread. That is not how sutures are done."
The sight of the infection was disgusting and even Epps said it. "Dude, you are a dumbass. Sam, you remember what I said about you never be forgiven for becoming a squid? I, along with all who know you have been working on material to give you hell. "
"Epps, leave the squid alone. Someone obviously has been brainwashed her or she was dropped on her head as a baby."
The ensign glared at the two and went back to work. At about 1200, Samantha took her lunch. Ratchet began to scan Samantha's lunch.
"Samantha, you consume too much caffeine as it is. You could experience symptoms such as heart palpitations, nervousness, insomnia, jitters, and increased body temperature."
"Ratchet, to have those type of symptoms you need to consume levels high enough to reach an overdose."
Fig (who did not die) lives to pick on navy and he has not a chance to pick on Samantha yet.
"What is it with you squids and coffee? You get the good stuff and you get the luxury hotel afloat."
Samantha and the four that are navy laughed. Petty officer Michaelson answered. "Fig, first of all, what is your standard for a good cup of coffee? If you are taking a shot at the ensign; you might notice that all of the docs, medics, and nurses drink coffee too. Secondly, navy; we do water and ships."
"Fig, make fun of the navy's coffee habit and I will make fun of you for your alligator fetish."
Will chocked for a moment along with the rest of them who were laughing and laughing so hard that tears were coming out of their eyes.
"Sam, do not say things like that when people are eating. It's wrong on so many levels but funny as hell."
Samantha went back to work and Ratchet went to seek Sam out.
"Sam, I have been going over your records. Your date of birth is estimated as of January 18, 1989…"
Samantha did not want to give Ratchet a chance to finish. "Ratchet, I was abandoned as a baby. I was found in front of the main entrance of United Hospital on January 25, 1989. What my parents think is my biological mother must have been a teenager who abandoned me. It takes more than blood to make a family Ratchet."
Ratchet had a mystery to solve. Who would want to get rid of Samantha? Things like abandoning a sparkling is illegal on Cybertron. Samantha's apathy bothered him as well.
Samantha's watch was about to end when a soldier from Australia was brought on via medics. "What happened?"
"Donnelly was bitten by a venomous snake. It was nowhere to be found."
"Ratchet, can you run through your systems to see what kinds of venomous snakes inhabit the area?"
Samantha, Ryberg, and Faulkner began to work on the soldier. "There are only two species of serpents that inhabit the area. They are the common brown snake and the tiger snake. He needs to be started on anti venom immediately as all systems need to be monitored."
The medics went to grab the antivenom and Samantha took out a pen to mark where the damage was. Donnelly was placed on monitors, as well as an iv started.
Now NEST did have doctors but they were much older and Will and those left over from Mission City did not particularly care for them because they did not even want to hear anything that Ratchet says. They especially did not want Ratchet jumping in to help care for a wounded human because he is not trained by humans. NEST went through nurses faster than a blink of an eye.
The first chance Will had, he requested Samantha. His attitude is Sam does just about everything a doctor does and she will work with Ratchet. She also would not chicken out seeing the Autobots and Decepticons. She did not when she was sixteen.
One of the civilian doctors came in and gave Samantha some shit. "Why didn't someone come and get me immediately. You are just a physician's assistant. You do not know a thing about medicine."
Samantha glared. "Starting treatment and if you were in the sickbay and not talking to your girlfriend around the clock, you would have seen the medics bring in Donnelly."
"Why is Ratchet in here? He does not know anything about the health of humans. He did not attend medical school here on Earth."
Dr. Jackson is despised on Diego Garcia. No one likes him and Will was looking for any excuse to get rid of him. The other civilian doctor, Dr. Yellen is slightly better. Will now had an excuse to get rid of Jackson.
"Sam, was Jackson spending most of his day away from sickbay and texting his girlfriend?"
The only time Will enforces rank is when some high up government official is visiting. If he had his way, no civilians would be involved with NEST. The fewer, the better. It is why he forces the rule that the civilians have to address military personnel by rank.
"Yes, the duty board said a Dr. Jackson is the MD on duty and this is the first time I have seen him."
Epps smirked at Will. Jackson is gone and good riddance. He would not put his wife and daughters in the hands of Jackson.
"Major Lennox, you are actually listening to the words of a lowly ensign who is playing fake doctor? Is it because she is military and I am a civilian? Ensign Witwicky will get someone killed because she will make serious medical errors…"
"Dr. Jackson, I would be careful about running your mouth off about Ensign Witwicky. She took out Megatron, you know the head of the Decepticons when she was sixteen. You damn well know what a physician's assistant does.
Medical errors Dr. Jackson will be caused by you do to lack of available care. You made that one clear by this being the first time you were seen today in sickbay. What about a mass casualty incident with several of my men seriously injured? That has happened before considering what we do in NEST.
Your real problem is with Ratchet. I trust Ratchet with the health of the other soldiers and said squids under my command. He has earned my trust. He can diagnose any illness and injury within seconds. He also can find any information on some obscure illness that no one has ever heard of in seconds."
Samantha was working on Donnally along with the two medics and Ratchet. Will and the rest of the guys of Diego Garcia were appalled that Jackson was more concerned about starting an argument instead of treating a patient who has a life-threatening injury. Will now can get Jackson fired and his security clearance removed.
Will ordered Jackson to be on the next flight out, he did not even want him near Donnelly. Thompson was not on duty because he usually does night watch and doctor Porter has conjunctivitis. He needs to be cleared before coming back for full duty.
Samantha gave report before leaving for the day. Due to the fact that they are down one person, Samantha would be on call.
Will stopped Sam before leaving. "Sam, why don't you…
"Will, I am on call tonight so it will have to wait."
Epps laughed at Will. "Damn, I want to see if the squid can hold her liquor. She shouldn't if she is stuck on call tonight."
"It's night time, after hours here. It will be quiet. What the hell can go wrong?"
Robert Epps is married to an ER nurse and even he knew better. "Will, never say the q word. It usually means all hell will break loose."
Samantha was back in her apartment still doing some unpacking and going through her mail that finally arrived.
Samantha asked Bumblebee not to say anything is she has not been in contact with the Ron and Judy since she graduated six years ago. Her relationship with them disintegrated after Mission City. They blamed her for what happened to their house. They were so shallow that all they cared about is their garden, not humanity being destroyed.
It got worse when she got that Navy ROTC scholarship to Stanford. That pissed them off. They basically told her that she is dead to them. They said it happened in Mission City when she played hero. It is why she lived with Mikaela and her parents during the last half of her senior year. They are the ones that are her emergency contacts if anything should happen.
What Samantha did not know is her past is darker than anyone could imagine. She has a father and an older brother looking for her. They have not given up hope even after 24 years. The two would get a kick out of the fact that Samantha is in Navy because it is the only branch they know.
What happened is Samantha was torn right out of the womb of her own mother. It would be Samantha's biological brother who was only nine to come home from school to find out his mother has been murdered and his sister kidnaped. It will take Ratchet to reunite brother and sister squid.
